Ten Good Rules to Live By

1. Realise your own worth. Avoid comparing yourself with others. Each of us is special, because we are different one from the other.

2. Set your own goals based on what is important to you, not what others think is important. Only you know what is best for you.

3. Treasure the things that are closest to your heart. Cherish them as you would your life, without them life is meaningless.

4. Live your life one day at a time, in the present, each day to its fullest. Don’t let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future.

5. Be relentless when you have something to offer; never give up. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.

6. Embrace risk, don’t be afraid. We learn how to be brave by taking chances.

7. Love deeply, freely, and with all your heart. The quickest way to receive love is to give love, the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly, the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

8. Live your dreams. To be without dreams is to be without hope, to be without hope is to be without purpose.

9. Slow down. Don’t run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have been, but also where you are going. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savoured, every step of the way.

10. Surrender to your destiny and have faith that it will unfold as it should. Choose to be happy, at peace and one with the universe.

How To Create A Happy Life

How to create a truly worthwhile and happy life:

1. Be good, and do good. That is simple enough.

2. Know what is right, and do what is right.

3. Live each day in such a manner that, when you go to sleep each night, you do so with a clear conscience.

4. Never do something you won't be proud of.

5. Never become someone you won't be proud of.

6. Do not search for riches, fame, or material wealth. Live your life the best way that you can, and if you do, you will attain the most valuable possession there is: peace of mind.

7. Realize that there is no substitute for being a good person.

8. Work hard at developing meaningful, genuine relationships.

9. Help make other people's lives a little better and more pleasant than they might otherwise be. Care for others as much as you can, and show appreciation to the important people in your life as often as you can.

10. Learn to forgive, and actually practice forgiveness.

11. Learn to ask for forgiveness.

12. Learn to control your emotions. Learn to think before you speak and act.

13. Learn to control your anger, or else it will control you.

14. Never judge anyone. Be kind and respectful to everyone; you never know what someone might be going through.

15. Keep an open mind. Accept the fact that you may not always be right.

16. Keep an open heart. Understand that what you want in life, and that what you are called to do may change as you gather more knowledge and experiences.

17. Do not fear change. Embrace the exciting opportunities that come with the future.

18. Always be positive. Remember, you can be realistic and positive at the same time.

19. Enjoy the life you have, because it's the only one you're going to get.

20. Don't always take yourself too seriously. Learn to laugh at yourself and at your circumstances.

21. Don't waste time complaining. Find something to be thankful for, and make the most of the good things you have in your life. Focus on the positives, and you will find that everything else seems to disappear from view.

22. Appreciate what you have. Pursue what you want.

23. Always do your best. If your best is good enough, then enjoy the rewards. If your best isn't good enough, then keep working and keep giving your best until one day it is.

24. Be humble; it is better to be humble of your own choosing than to be humbled by other people or by circumstances.

25. Find out what you have a passion for, and then do it. And don't just do it for your own benefit; find a way to use your gifts and your passion to help others.

26. Hold on tightly to your sense of self-worth and your dreams. They belong to you, and you alone. No one can take away any of those things unless you allow them too.

27. Don't wish for better circumstances. Go out and make them.

28. Make the most of your talent and your opportunities, and find a way to do it in service to something that is greater than your own immediate self.

29. Realize that we are all part of something larger than ourselves, and that we are called to do as much good in this lifetime as we possibly can.

30. Live with honour and integrity, live a life that matters.

...In other words: Make Your Life a Masterpiece.

A Few Good Life Rules

1. You cannot change what you refuse to confront.
2. Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.
3.
In life, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
4.
Trying to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.
5. It doesn't matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, the most important thing is that you are still trying.

6. If a person wants to be a part of your life, they will make an obvious effort to do so. Think twice before reserving a space in your heart for people who do not make an effort to stay.
7. Making one person smile can change the world, maybe not the whole world, but their world.

8. Giving up doesn't always mean you're weak, sometimes it means you are strong enough and smart enough to let go and move on.
9. It is better to be alone, then to be in bad company.
10. If you really want to do something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse.

11. Never do something permanently foolish just because you are temporarily upset.
12. Sometimes you need to distance yourself from the situation to see things clearly.
13. When you stop chasing the wrong things you give the right things a chance to catch you.
14. There isn't anything noble about being superior to another person. True nobility is in being superior to the person you once were.
15. The only expectations you should live up to are the ones you expect of yourself.

The Key To Love

The Key to Love is Understanding...

The ability to comprehend not only the spoken word,
but also those unspoken gestures,
the little things that say so much by themselves.

The Key to Love is Forgiveness...

To accept each others faults and pardon mistakes,
without forgetting, but with remembering
what you learn from them.

The Key to Love is Sharing...
Facing your good fortunes as well as the bad, together.
Both conquering problems and forever searching for ways
to intensify your happiness.

The Key to Love is Giving...
Without thought of return,
but with the hope of just a simple smile,
and by giving in but never giving up.

The Key to Love is Respect...

Realizing that you are two separate people, with different ideas.
That you don't belong to each other,
that you belong with each other, and share a mutual bond.

The Key to Love is inside us all...

It takes time and patience to unlock all the ingredients
that will take you to its threshold.
It is the continual learning process that demands a lot of work...
but the rewards are more than worth the effort...
and that is the key to love.

Friday Frills

Remember that your presence is a present to the world.
Remember that you are a unique and unrepeatable creation.

Remember that your life can be what you want it to be.
Remember to take the days just one at a time.

Remember that you’ll make it through whatever comes along.
Remember that most of the answers you need are within you.

Remember those dreams waiting to be realized.
Remember that decisions are too important to leave to chance.

Remember to always reach for the best that is within you.
Remember that nothing wastes more energy than worry.

Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
Remember that the longer you carry a grudge, the heavier it gets.

Remember not to take things too seriously.
Remember to laugh.

Remember that a little love goes a long way.
Remember that a lot goes forever.

Remember that by telling the truth, you don't have to recall any lies.
Remember that happiness is more often found in giving than getting.

Remember that life’s treasures are people, not things.
Remember that miracles can still happen.

Friday Frills

If there was ever a time to dare, to make a difference,

To embark on something worth doing...
IT IS NOW.

Not for any grand cause, necessarily…
but for something that tugs at your heart,
Something that’s your inspiration, something that’s your dream.

You owe it to yourself to make your days here count.

HAVE FUN. DIG DEEP. STRETCH. DREAM BIG.

Know, though, that things worth doing seldom come easy.

There will be good days. And there will be bad days.

There will be times when you want to turn around,
pack it up, and call it quits.
Those times tell you
that you are pushing yourself, that you are not afraid to learn by trying.

PERSIST.
Because with an idea, determination and the right tools,
 you can do great things.

Let your instincts, your intellect and your heart, guide you.

TRUST.
Believe in the incredible power of the human mind.

Of doing something that makes a difference.
Of working hard. Of laughing and hoping.

Of lazy afternoons. Of lasting friends. Of all the things that will cross your path this year.

The start of something new brings the hope of something great,

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Wishes for 2014

May every day of your life bring you fresh hopes for tomorrow,
Because hope gives us all a reason for trying.

May each new day bring a feeling of excitement, joy and wonderful sense of expectation.
Expect the best and you will receive it.

May you find peace in simple things,
Because those are the ones that matter most.

May you remember the good times and forget the sorrow and pain,
For the good times will remind you of how special your life has been.

May you always feel secure and loved and know you are capable of anything.
May you have faith in others and find the ability to open your heart.

May you experience all the good things in life -
The happiness of realizing your dreams, the joy of feeling worthwhile,
And the satisfaction of knowing you've succeeded.

May you find warmth in others, expressions of love and kindness,
Smiles that encourage you, and friends who are loyal and honest.

May you realize the importance of patience and accept others for what they are.
With understanding and love, you will find the good in every heart.

Above all, may you always have Positive Thoughts.

Friday Frills

Don’t ever let people tell you that you aren’t good enough.

Because you are.

Don’t ever give up your dreams,

Because you need them.

Don’t ever compromise your morals
,
Because they make you who you are.

Don’t ever hide your feelings
,
Because someone’s willing to hear them.

Don’t ever think you’ve got it all figured out,
Because the next moment you won’t.

Don’t ever live your life in the past,

Because then you’ll miss out on the now.

Don’t ever let people bring you down
,
Because they don’t deserve to.

Don’t ever be someone you aren’t
,
Because then you’ll never know you who really are.

Don’t ever let someone tell you how you feel
,
Because it’s not their right to.

Don’t ever give up something that feels right
,
Because it probably is.

Don’t ever worry about the petty things,
Because they just don’t matter.

Don’t ever run away from your problems,

Because they always find you.

Don’t ever be afraid to take risks
,
Because they make life worth living.

Don’t ever let someone take away your happiness,

Because it was never theirs to take.

*I also want to bid a sad farewell to our late great President Nelson Mandela.
He changed the way the world saw our country and he brought freedom and light to a nation without hope.

How To Make It Through The Week

The first half of the year has swung by in a flash and some of us will find ourselves having the Mid-Year Itch. Where the weeks just drag by and dwindle into monotony. It's time to press the refresh button on 2013 and find some exciting ways to make it through the week.

Tips To Make It Through The Week...With Your Sanity Intact

* Indulge in one thing you love, be it a slice of chocolate cake, a luxurious bubble bath or a miniature shopping expedition.
* Get your full 8 hours of sleep at least one night this week. You will feel well rested & those Louis Vuitton bags you were carrying under your eyes will thank you for lightening the load.
* Have your hair professionally blown out or treat yourself to a mani/pedi in your lunch break.
* Soak your feet in some warm water and bath salts after a long stressful day.

* Find the ability to 'Say No' to new projects or people that you currently don't have the time or mental strength for.
* Do one thing this week to declutter your desk, your closet or your life.
* Surround yourself with something beautiful - a bouquet of flowers, a pretty ornament, wall hanging or a memorable photo frame.
* Take 10 minutes to feed your skin with some sunshine. You will gain a healthy glow and absorb that all important Vitamin D. Don't forget the SPF.

* Take the time to have a cup of coffee with a good friend.
* Reflect, meditate, pray or do anything similarly relaxing that's soothing for the soul.
* Carry an inspirational book to read while waiting in line or commuting to work/school.
* Wear something that boosts your confidence this week; a great dress, pair of high heels or bright lipstick. Don't forget your best accessory - a smile.

* Enroll in a class that you've always been interested in - salsa dancing, creative writing, yoga, art. It will instill some excitement into the tedium of the week. If you find that you don't like it, hey, at least you tried something new.
* Exercise the K.I.T.Y syndrome - Keep It To Yourself. By not giving in to your exasperations and anger, and by controlling your thoughts, you will avoid unnecessary conflict.
* Take things one task at a time. Overburdening yourself with too many duties and deadlines with heighten your levels of stress.
* Sing in the shower. As long as your neighbours don't complain, it's an upbeat way to start the day. Singing releases endorphins, creating a natural happy high.

* Light some beautifully scented candles when you get home, it will enhance your mood.
* Have one healthy, and fully balanced meal this week, and skip out on greasy, overprocessed take out food. Include eating your greens, it's good for you, promise.
* Laugh Out Loud. Watch a funny TV series, rent a comedy, read a joke or spend time with someone who truly makes you smile.
* If there's ever a point when things seem to get just too much - Stop for a minute. Breathe in deeply. Assess how bad the situation is. Write down your thoughts. Work on finding a solution.

* Congratulate yourself on something that you succeeded at this week.
* That one task you were putting off for weeks now - Get it done. Today.
* Stop worrying about tomorrow before today is even over.
Every night before bed, think of one thing that you were grateful for during the day.

If by Friday, you're still in one piece, without burning anything down, pulling all your hair out or breaking down...Congratulations! You've made it through the week!

P.S. If you haven't yet swapped over to Bloglovin, please do so here.

Friday Frills

A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape…
But a woman of strength uses the power of kindness to keep her soul in shape.

A strong woman isn’t afraid of anything…
But a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear.

A strong woman won’t let anyone get the best of her…
But a woman of strength gives the best of herself to everyone.

A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids doing the same in the future…
A woman of strength realizes life’s mistakes can also be a blessing
in disguise and capitalizes on them.

A strong woman knows how to walk on a tightrope in high heels...
But a woman of strength masters the art of walking tall after stumbling over.

A strong woman wears the look of confidence on her face…
But a woman of strength wears grace.

A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey …
But a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong…

A strong woman is one who gets her heart broken time and time again and still has the strength to gather the pieces to create a new life for herself.

This is a Salute to you, dear friends, each of whom is a Woman of Strength.

Friday Frills

Failure doesn’t mean you’re a failure,

It means you haven’t succeeded yet.

Failure doesn’t mean you haven’t accomplished something,

It does mean you have learned something.

Failure doesn’t mean you’ve been a fool,

It means you have a lot of faith.

Failure doesn’t mean you’ve been disgraced,

It does mean you were willing to try.

Failure doesn’t mean you don’t have it,

It means you have to do something in a different way.

Failure doesn’t mean you’re inferior,

It does mean you’re not perfect.

Failure doesn’t mean you’ve wasted your time,

It means you have a reason to start fresh.

Failure doesn’t mean you should give up,

It does mean you should try harder.

Failure doesn’t mean you’ll never make it,

It does mean it will take a little longer.

Failure doesn’t mean God has abandoned you,

It does mean he has a better way.

Friday Frills

Real women have lines, wrinkles, and flaws.

Each one earned with experience, perseverance and determination.

There’s no computer to airbrush your mistakes.

Let them make you who you are.

Love every mark, every scar and every extra curve you wished to go away.
What you deem as an imperfection is what adds to your unique beauty.

Accept what you can’t learn to love,

Then let go of what you can’t accept.

Treasure them for their memories.

Like a worn love letter or an old family heirloom from generations ago.

Each line and blemish comes with the wisdom only years of life can give.

And life is not to be hidden or covered up.

For life is how a girl grows into a woman
.
And real women don't conceal their flaws, they proudly embrace it.
