Red Carpet - SAG Awards 2014

Red Carpet Fashion
Screen Actors Guild Awards 2014

Awards Season continued this past weekend with the 20th Annual SAG Awards held in Hollywood. This is a summary of designer dresses worn on the red carpet.

Blue Belles
Morena Baccarin started off the blue trend of the evening in a sapphire chiffon pleated Monique Lhuillier gown. Amy Adams made an imposing appearance in this well-crafted royal blue Antonio Berardi dress with uneven neckline and beaded belt. Ariel Winter was printed in a blue shaded Badgley Mischka gown with cross-banded bodice. TV actress Anna Gunn looked chic in a shimmery navy Monique Lhuillier netted column dress.

Elegant Anchors
TV anchor Renee Bargh looked beautiful in a scarlet red Steven Khahil gown with lace covered bodice. Giuliana Rancic opted for a grape shaded halter-neck Basil Soda gown with nipped in waist. Rosci Diaz poshed up in a slinky black Victoria Beckham cut-out dress, accented with a hot pink clutch. Kelly Osbourne picked this blue ruched satin mermaid dress by her go-to designer, Zac Posen.

Pretty Pale
SAG winner Cate Blanchett wore a draped pastel pink Givenchy gown with sequin trimmed bodice and straps. Maria Menounos goes Grecian in this stunning gold exposed corset dress with flowing peach skirt by Rani Zakhem. Kaley Cuoco was dressed in an ice grey Vera Wang gown with fishtail skirt. 'New Girl' actress Hannah Simone looked pretty in a lilac chiffon Marchesa gown with floral ruffled neck.

Modern Lines
Michelle Dockery wears a modern monochromatic look by J.Mendel. Gretchen Mol also opted for a dress by J.Mendel, hers in all white with a mesh tshirt and draped skirt. Lena Heady went graphic in a striped apricot and navy Jenny Packham gown with tie-up halter neck. Natalie Dormer's edgy grid-sleeved white gown is by Marios Schwab. Julie Bowen was bold in an orange bodice and digi-print skirt by Carolina Herrera

 Above Board
Sarah Paulson sticks to her girly style stanza in this endearing white ankle-cropped dress by Rochas. Kerry Washington took a gamble in this cerise pink beaded cropped top and flaired out skirt by Prada. Sarah Hyland was graceful in a petal pink high-low hem dress by Pamella Roland. Sasha Alexander also went for the higher hem trend in a dashing red strapless Alberta Ferretti dress, accented with black accessories.

Black Out
'Game of Thrones' actress Sophie Turner donned a black embossed Dolce & Gabbana gown with peach waistband. Katrina Bowden looked fetching in a fitted black Badgely Mischka dress with gold embroidered neckline. Downton Abbey's Cara Theobold wore a retro silhouette in this flutter sleeve dress by Alice Temperley. TV presenter Alex Hudgens kept it classy in a structured black off-the-shoulder gown.

Ornate Attire
Malin Akerman went elaborate in a heavily beaded black and gold Naeem Khan gown. Vionnet dressed Claire Danes in a glossy blue paillette dress with sheer panels. Amanda Peet picked out an uninspiring navy and bronze flower embroidered midi dress. Game of Thrones' Rose Leslie was styled in a difficult-to-wear Temperley London dress with lavender lace see-through bodice and leopard print maxi skirt.

Colour Card
Camilla Alves showed off her curves in a radiant saffron yellow wrapped gown by Dolce & Gabbana. Jane Krakowski's one-shouldered apple green gown is by Roland Mouret. Sandra Bullock continues to experiment with new styles, pictured here in a metallic emerald green Lanvin dress with draped waist and high slit. Award winner Lupito Nyong'o stunned in an aqua blue figure-hugging Gucci column gown with flower-embellished neck. Actress Zoe Kazan wore a turquoise and navy printed dress with bow-decked neckline.

Ink Pad
Anna Chlumsky was refined in an asymmetrical inky blue and white gown by Sophie Theallet. Jennifer Garner displayed her elegant taste in this midnight blue Max Mara gown with belted waist. Award winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus wore a simplistic Monique Lhuillier look in navy and indigo blue.

Berry Tint
Elisabeth Moss looked outstanding in a cherry red Michael Kors sweetheart strapless gown with black waistband. Actress Margot Bingham was poised in a crimson fitted silhouette. Julia Roberts interestingly did not wear a dress but instead opted for a raspberry wide-leg jumpsuit by Valentino. Veteran actress Holly Hunter blended into the red carpet with her tasteful Randi Rahm gown.

Metallic Sheen
Laura Carmichael donned a shimmery beige Vionnet dress with asymmetrical draped side hemline. Emilia Clarke had a shining moment in this rose gold one-sleeved Calvin Klein gown. Jennifer Lawrence didn't run of Dior dresses it seems, pictured in a lustrous coal black column gown with flickers of coloured sequins. Sofia Vergara always knows how to compliment her amazing figure, dressed in a glittering silver beaded Donna Karan Atelier gown. Isla Fisher took vintage inspiration in this silver satin v-neck gown by Oscar de la Renta.

Hello Sam, Amy Adams Royal Blue gown looks fabulous. Cate Blanchett in her pink Givenchy gown looks so divine. Then Jennifer Garner in the simple navy blue looks classy. Those are my top three. Have a wonderful week.

So much red carpet goodness! I absolutely swooned over Cate Blanchett's whisper pink Givenchy! She can pretty much do no wrong. I also thought Kerry Washington and Michelle Dockery looked quite smashing as well. Hope you had a lovely weekend Sam!

Thank you darling for yet again a great recap! I'm so glad that Amy Adams made her wrong choice from the Golden Globesbetter, love her dress! Other favourites are Claire Danes, Jennifer Garner, Cate Blanchett (aarrghh she looks always so perfect!!) and Maria Menouos and of course Lupita (she had some amazing dresses in all the events!!). Biggest no no is Kerry Washington for me: cropped tops should be forbidden when pregnant, how did she came up with it? - even tough I really really like her outfit!!!!! Maybe she can wear it again in a couple of months haha:) xxx

Unknown said...

Lupita is my best dressed. Some of the gowns really look aweful on the pics but are maybe great in person like Julie Bowen's gown- what was she thinking. Sandra Bullock looks great and Sarah Hyland is looking very nice..I think Jennifer Garner looks simply chic. I want to love Kerry Washington's look, I realy do but I don't. I love the pieces seperatly not together.
Thanks Sam.

Some wonderful inspiration for my senior prom this year! My friend is making my dress, I might show her a few of the blue gowns- they were my favourite! xx

Great round-up. I browsed them last night and, as much as I like a few looks, I honestly felt that some of the actresses seriously need a different stylist. :)

My votes go to Maria Menounos, and Jennifer Garner. Jennifer is such a classy lady!

Regarding your question about my lentil soup... I think it may be bland if you only used water...although you could just add a lot more seasoning. The veggie stock I use is unsalted and there is no animal products in it so maybe there is a product like that you could use. Another possible option may be to add some organic tomato paste to the water...that flavors nicely.
Hope that helps:)
XO, Gina

Morning Sam, hope you had a great weekend. Thanks for sharing all the looks, I just browsed some of them but not all..and have to admit that Im pretty disappointed since there isnt any dress in particular which made blow my mind you know. I think Amy Adams is one of the most gorgeous, the gown is outstanding and the color suits her. Recently I watched American Hustle and she was brilliant! I also like Sofia Vergara, stunning!
Have a great week ahead dear, kisses! xo

My princess!
I must say that all these looks are brilliant and dreamy but Anna Gunn was amazing!
The dress itself has a simple shape like a mermaid but I think that matched with her body shape, the color of her skin and hair made the perfect combination and in my opinion she is the best!
Not "too much" and not "too less", she found the perfect balance <3
I will work on the post you asked me :DDD Thank you for always your sweet words and great suggestions!

At first I wasn't at all impressed with the red carpet at this event, but it helped to see so many looks at once. My favorites were Amy Adams (love how daring she's been lately), Cate Blanchett, Camilla Alves (goddess!), Sofia Vergara, and Lupita Nyong'o (she looks amazing at every event)! I thought Clare Danes' dress was unflattering, and that Jennifer Lawrence's gown was a little boring, despite all the sparkle.

Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog, Sam. Glad I was able to give your useful tips!
I love your red carpet posts and always like to list my best and worst dressed haha!
Best dressed: Anna Gunn, Renee Burgh, everyone in the "Black Out" category, Lupita, Julia Roberts and everyone in the "Metallic Sheen" category, ESPECIALLY Sofia Vergara, so happy to see her trying out new styles, we're so bored of the V-neck dresses.
Worst dressed: Ariel Winter (isn't that dress a bit too tight upstairs?), Cate Blanchet, Julie Bowen and Rose Leslie.
