Friday Frills - If You Wish

If you wish to be respected, then be ever respectful.
If you wish to be understood, then make it your business to sincerely understand.

If you wish to be appreciated, then be ever grateful.
If you wish to be loved, then give love in each moment.

If you wish to be wealthy, then act to create real value.
If you wish to learn, then take time to teach.

If you wish to climb higher, then lift others up.
If you wish to be wise, then share what you know.

Whatever you wish, life will surely give it.
What you must do though, is to truly live it.

There is so much to live for and so much to see.
You will have whatever you are willing to be.

Friday Frills - Do More

Do more than belong: Participate.

Do more than care: Help.

Do more than believe: Practice.

Do more than be fair: Be kind.
Do more than forgive: Forget.
Do more than dream: Work.
Do more than teach: Inspire.

Do more than earn: Enrich.

Do more than suffer: Triumph.
Do more than give: Serve.

Do more than express: Empower.
Do more than live: Grow.

Friday Frills - Hope

Hope looks for the good in people instead of harping on the worst.
Hope opens doors where despair closes them.
Hope discovers what can be done instead of grumbling about what cannot.

Hope "lights a candle" instead of "cursing the darkness."
Hope regards problems, small or large, as opportunities.
Hope cherishes no illusions, nor does it yield to cynicism.

Hope sets big goals and is not frustrated by repeated difficulties or setbacks.
Hope pushes ahead when it would be easy to quit.
Hope puts up with modest gains, realizing that "the longest journey starts with one step."

Hope...sometimes that's all you have when you have nothing else,
But if you have it, you have everything.

Friday Frills - Life is a Privilege

Not all the puzzle pieces of life will seem to fit together at first,
But in time you’ll realize they do, perfectly.

So thank the situations that didn’t work out for you,
Because they just made room for the situations that will.

And thank the people who walked away from you,
Because they just made room for the ones who won’t.

No matter how good or bad you think you have it,
Wake up each day thankful for your life.
Someone somewhere else is desperately fighting for theirs.

Instead of thinking about what you’re missing,
Think about what you have that everyone else is missing.

Think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive in your own shoes...
To breathe a fresh breath, to think another thought, to enjoy a new moment,
To have options – then go out and make the day count.

Friday Frills - Living in the Present

Don't get stuck in the past,
Where you linger on and on in familiarity,
And replay old memories over and over again.

Don't overindulge in the future,
Where you daydream about leading a grand life endlessly,
And imagine the sweetest days you could ever live.

Don't neglect your present,
Where true life begins to unfold and pass you by silently,
And you wonder about missed opportunities and lost moments.

To avoid the state of merely existing, be aware of your present,
And you might notice that you are part of a grander scheme
where the past is long gone and the future has yet to come,
And that your present is the most precious moment you could ever feel.
Your past and your future both lie in your present,
Where your present wields the power to influence and change the way
you think about your past either with gratitude or with regret,
And shape your future to either a success or a failure.

Live totally in the present,
Enjoying each and every moment,
Where it is all happening,
Where it truly matters.

Friday Frills - Differences

Some people do things completely differently from the way you would do them.
It does not mean that they are right or that you are wrong.
It just means that people are different.

There are things that people say which you would probably say
in a different way, at a different time.
It does not mean that people are wrong to speak up, to speak out, or to speak their minds.
Nor does it mean that you are wrong for choosing not to do so.
It means that people are different.

Different is not right or wrong. It is a reality.
Differences become problems only when we choose to measure ourselves
by our differences in an effort to determine who is right and who is wrong.

All people are different from one another.
Our different points of view shape our vantage point and our vision.
Where we sit is a function of where we have sat.
What we can see is a function of what we have seen.

No one person's experience, point of view or view point is more accurate,
more acceptable or more righteous than another.
It is simply different...and that is perfectly okay.

Friday Frills

Your life is made up of a series of experiences, some good, some bad.
Each experience will make you stronger and wiser, even though sometimes
it will be hard for you to realize it.

Life is your classroom in which you are being tested, tried and passed.

Always try to stay in the midst of life and activity.

Don't isolate yourself from the action.

Be among people and things, among troubles, difficulties and obstacles.

Learn to face your fears and you will be able to overcome anything.

Your character develops itself in the stream of life.

Life expects you to make progress in reasonable time.

You will realize the setbacks and griefs that you endure actually
help you in your march forward to success.

We learn from our past mistakes, mishaps and failures.
Mistakes have the power to turn you into a better person than you were before.

Forget what hurt you, but never forget what it taught you.
Remember that every winner has scars, and that
The world was built to develop your character.

Friday Frills

Stop comparing where you’re at with where everyone else is.
It doesn’t move you farther ahead, improve your situation, or help you find peace.
It just feeds your contempt, fuels your feelings of inadequacy, and ultimately, it keeps you stuck.

The reality is that there is no one correct path in life.
Everyone has their own unique journey.
A path that’s right for someone else won’t necessarily be a path that’s right for you.
And that’s okay. Your journey isn’t right or wrong, or good or bad.
It’s just different.

Your life isn’t meant to look like anyone else’s because you aren’t like anyone else.
You’re a person all your own with a unique set of goals, obstacles, dreams, and needs.
So stop comparing, and start living.
You may not have ended up where you intended to go.

But trust, for once, that you have ended up where you needed to be.
Trust that you are in the right place at the right time.
Trust that your life is enough.
Trust that you are enough.

Friday Frills

Each day we can wake up and choose to see life as a gift and to be fully present in that day.
We cannot always control the outcome, but we can control our reactions.

Each day we can bring all that we have to that day, choosing to live it fully,
Seeing it as a great gift.

Each day we can train our mind not to obsess about regret,
Nor to worry for tomorrow, but instead to be in this present moment.

Each day we can be grateful for what has happened that day.
And we can choose not to judge our lives from moment to moment
(am I happy, successful, unhappy, a failure, good, bad)
But simply just to live our life.

There are five secrets in achieving the best life has to offer...
Be true to yourself.
Leave no regrets.
Become love.
Live in the moment.
Give more than you take.

Easter Wishes

May you have a healthy body,
To move around freely and roam wherever you desire to go.

May you have good vision,
To enjoy all the beauty the universe has to offer you.

May you have good listening skills,
To hear all the mighty tales and incredible stories that make up life.

May you have a good sense of smell,
To inhale in all the rich aromas and fragrances floating in the air.

May you have a warm sense of touch,
To give out loving hugs and comforting pats on the shoulder.

May you speak with kindness from your heart,
To soothe someone's hurt and to uplift someone's mood.

May you have lots of laughter,
To brighten up someone's day and make a difference.

May you have lots of courage,
To go after your dreams and turn them into reality.

May you have lots of love,
To spread around and leave this world a better place.

May you have enough to feel blessed,
And to share your gift of blessings with others too.

Friday Frills

You are not made up of those words that hurt you.
Or that number on the scale.
Or the expectations that you feel you will never meet.

You are made up of nothing more than you.
Simply, beautifully, wonderfully, uniquely you.
You are a lovely and complex soul.

An individually fascinating combination of thoughts, ideas, feelings, emotions.
No other is as beautiful as you. Look past the mirror. Look at your soul.
Only then will you see yourself as you truly are. Beautiful.

Love yourself. Forgive yourself.
And be true to yourself.
How you treat yourself sets the standard for how others will treat you.

Friday Frills

Today I will search for the goodness in everyone I meet. I will remember that light reflects off the whole world around me, and that how I view it depends on the glasses I choose to wear.

Today I will walk through doors and lives knowing that it is my contributions, and not my comments that shape the world around me. It is not the big things, but the little things for which I will best be remembered. I will choose my words more carefully, and allow them to heal and not wound.

Today I will feed where there is hunger, I will comfort where there is loneliness and I will listen to the words, the music and the rhythm of those with whom I share my life. I will bring love where there is hatred, fight for what is right, make amends for any wrongs I may have done and ask forgiveness from those I have harmed.

Today is a blessing and a gift, that's why it called The Present.

Friday Frills

No one needs to be a certain size, or a certain weight, to be beautiful.
Beauty simply isn't about that. Not to sound cliche, but beauty is totally in the eye of the beholder, and highly subjective. You could be totally unappealing to one person, but to another you could be a dream. So it's not really about trying to fit into some imaginary model of what you think beauty is supposed to be. It's about doing your best to be as healthy, happy, and confident as you can be, and loving yourself whatever the outcome.

Friday Frills

It may be easier to give up than it is to keep going.
It may be easier to say it's someone else's fault than to take the blame yourself.
It may be easier to make excuses than to offer apologies,
But there's no guarantee that the easy way through life is the best way.

This road of life twists and turns,
No two directions are ever the same,
Yet our lessons come from the journey...not the destination.

So make your travels through time worthwhile.
Choose the roads that allow you opportunities to grow and change.
Look for adventures that challenge your abilities,
And find mysteries in life that excite your sense of wonder.

Don't be so concerned about finding the easiest roads to travel,
But follow the roads that lead you toward being the person you really want to be.

Friday Frills

How many times do we say something that we
immediately realized was not the right thing to say?
How many times do we look back
on an event and think, if only I had...
How many times do we do something
that we wish hadn't done?

You can't change what has been said.
You can't change a past event.
You can't change what has been done.

Do you call it regret, sorrow, repentance?
Do you think about what might have been?
Do you relive an event the way it should have been?

Forget about regret, and focus.
Focus on today,
Not on the past.
Focus on what you can do,
Not what you didn't do.

The only thing to regret is living in the past.
The only thing to feel sorrow for is
not living each day to the fullest.
The only thing to do to repent is
to sincerely say, I'm sorry.

Don't live your life regretting yesterday.
Live your life so tomorrow you won't regret today.

Friday Frills

The longer you have to wait for something,
The more you will appreciate it when it finally arrives.
The harder you have to fight for something,
The more priceless it will become once you achieve it.
And the more pain you have to endure on your journey,
The sweeter the arrival at your destination.

Whatever we are waiting for...
Peace of mind, contentment, grace, the inner awareness of simple abundance,
It will surely come to us, but only when we're ready to receive it with an open & grateful heart.

All good things are worth waiting for and worth fighting for.
Don't forget that your present situation is not your final destination.
The Best is Yet to Come.

Friday Frills

It’s not having everything go right,
It’s facing whatever goes wrong.
It’s not being without fear,
It’s having the determination to go on in spite of it.

It’s not about where you stand,
But the direction you’re going in.
It’s more than never having bad moments;
It’s knowing you are always bigger than the moment.

It’s believing you have already been given everything you need to handle life.
It’s not being able to rid the world of all its injustices;
It’s being able to rise above them.
It’s the belief in your heart that there will always be more good than bad in the world.

Remember to live just this one day,
And not add tomorrow’s troubles to today’s load.
Remember that every day ends
And brings a new tomorrow full of exciting new things.

Friday Frills

Every person has the power to make others happy.
Some do it simply by entering a room
Others by leaving the room.

Some individuals leave trails of gloom;
Others, trails of joy.

Some leave trails of hate and bitterness;
Others, trails of love and harmony.

Some people leave trails of cynicism and pessimism;
Others leave trails of faith and optimism.

Some leave trails of criticism and resignation;
Others, trails of gratitude and hope.

What kind of trails do you leave?

Friday Frills

You are here not to impress anyone, but to improve everyone.
You are here not to grab all you can, but to give all you are.
You are here not to regret where you've been or worry about where you are going.

You are here to live with all the fullness and richness you can imagine.
You are here to question, to answer, to search and to find.
You are here to love, to experience, to know and to share.

You are here to create, to encourage, to build and grow and support.
You are here to think, to act, and by so doing,
To make life all the more meaningful by way of your presence.
You are here now, able to do all these things and more in this very moment.

Go far, far beyond those pretenses and anxieties that only serve to weigh you down.
You are here now, and the possibilities are everything you could ever imagine.
Live them, here, now.

Friday Frills

Courage is admitting that you’re afraid and facing that fear directly.
It is being strong enough to ask for help and humble enough to accept it.

Courage is standing up for what you believe in without worrying about the opinions of others. It’s following your own heart, living your own life and settling for nothing less than the best.

Courage is daring to take the first step, a big leap, or a different path. It’s attempting to do something that no one has done before and all others thought impossible.

Courage is keeping heart in the face of disappointment & looking at defeat not as an end, but as a new beginning. It’s believing that things will ultimately get better even as they get worse.

Courage is being responsible for your own actions and admitting your own mistakes without placing the blame on others. It’s about not relying on others for your success, but on your own skills and efforts.

Courage is refusing to quit even when you are intimidated by impossibility. It’s choosing a goal, sticking with it, and finding solutions to the problems.

Courage is thinking big, aiming high, and shooting far. It’s taking a dream and doing anything, risking everything, and stopping at nothing to make it a reality.
