Summer 2014 Shoes by Burak Uyan

Talent isn't made or bought, it's something that you're born with and Turkish-German designer Burak Uyan certainly has that intrinsic eye for style. After fine-tuning his skills at Givenchy & Giambattista Valli, Uyan rerouted his career to footwear, forming his eponymous label in 2010.

Since then, this Parisian-based artist has been known in fashion circles as 'The Architect', and its clear why, as he is fervently influenced by strong architectural shapes and towering constructions, which he transfigures into fashionable footwear. His structural Summer 2014 collection is a shoe lover's treasure chest of elegant and sophisticated pairs that make a statement with every step.

Burak's design aesthetic represents all that is glamourous about high heels, without overstepping the line of the outré and unwearable. Strappy slingbacks and caged sandals dominate in vivid tones of cobalt blue, aquamarine and tangerine, with a hint of yellow and subdued pastel hues that are sure to ignite any outfit. Burak experiments with contrasting colours and textures: leather with suede, prints and plains, accented by buckles and studs. Abstract ethnic and animal prints are etched across a refreshing set of flats and ankle-strap pairs. 

Colour-blocked cut-out pairs are engineered to precision in sky scraping heights, the curvature a marvel in it's own right. Glossy metallic sandals add pizazz to your evening attire and chic black & white pairs are given a modern interpretation with interesting geometric forms and sharp angles.

There isn't a pair that I wouldn't want in this outstanding range. Burak Uyan is a designer to watch, I can already envision many of his creations making their way down runways and red carpets.

Paule Ka Spring/Summer 2014

Bringing forth a combination of timeless design with modern finesse, the Paule Ka Spring/Summer 2014 collection has given me a new sense of reverence for the brand. It is more often than not that the most interesting and desirable collections are the ones with the simplest of lines and cleaner-cut looks, like these proffered by the brand's creative director, Serge Cajfinger. 

Flattering black, beige and white belted shirt dresses, cropped V tops and cut-out bodycon frocks lay down a sophisticated foundation for Paule Ka's Spring 2014 range. Spiced red and rose pink provide a more romantic tone to the seemingly utilitarian collection with pretty cocktail dresses in classic silhouettes. The label's signature bow detail makes an appearance upon sexy snipped-off shoulders and light summer jackets.

To set the solids apart, we are presented with graphic ceramic prints that are inspired by the French commune, Vallauris. Electric shades in digital watercolors are patterned upon slim-fitting pants, retro mini dresses and prim buttoned shirts. Paule Ka gives the wearer a timeless variety of proportions to suit any figure, from sleek pencil skirts to midi circle skirts, loosely sewn coats, figure-hugging mini's and an outstanding voluminous cerise pink gown.

This season, the British shoe designer has outdone herself with beautiful pairs of butterfly winged heels in glossy patent leather shades of spearmint, baby pink, black, cerise and teal.

The trendy polka heart print is seen on eye-catching satin pairs, whist dreamy pastel leather clouds are adorned upon flatforms and mules with perspex heels. Faux heart-perforated socks add a playful retro touch to red leather ankle boots. Jellies are given a modern colourblocked makeover with glittered heels. Psychedelic slingbacks are striped and vividly shaded in bright summer hues with quirky appliquéd catch phrases, corresponding to the brand's highly desired speech bubble bags.

Serene pastels are seen in wrap-around heels embedded with colourful gems in graphic printed canvas and suede. Retaining the timeless and elegant essence of Valentino, RED Valentino captures the beauty and grace of a more youthful and contemporary audience. RED Valentino dresses the 21st-century girl who lives out her daydreams in enchanting feminine ensembles, allowing her individuality and confidence to shine through. 

This Spring, RED Valentino treats us to a visual delight of romantic dresses in floral brocades, lime embroidered macramé, sweet pea printed georgettes, rose pink silks and mint faille.
