Winter Coats - The 2012 Trend Edition

The one fashion item we can always rely on in winter is a chic and trendy coat. Not only do they keep us warmly wrapped up, but they also add instant glamour when tossed over any cozily layered outfit (some of which we would rather not have anyone see). This season, designers have spelt out a number of great coat trends...from puffy quilted coats to prim military jackets, oversized cocoon shaped coats to boxy blazers.

As most of us would heed serious caution before swiping our credit cards for a $2000 Jil Sander coat, we have the high street retail brands to thank for their splendid renditions of these designer duds. These are Winter 2012's biggest coat trends, where we all can achieve the 'Luxury Look For Less'.

Which winter coat trend are you most willing to try out?

I love that you show the for less versions, because as much as I like that $5000 coat there is no way it could ever come home with me, but $150...we could swing that :) Great options!

I love a good 'splurge or scrimp' post Sam, this is awesome!

My votes have to go to the Skunkfunk saffron beauty, the Miss Selfridge leopard coat (post snap today!) and the Chloe white coat (I'm allowed one splurge item, right?!).

Whoa, that Topshop feathered coat is insane! (I love feather items, but Im pretty sure I'd feel like such a goofball in that one, the kids would think I was a monster bird coming to attack them.) Coats are one of those things i really thing are worth spending money on, I love how you found some really gorgeous affordable versions of the designer coats! (Ooooh, the Victoria Beckmen coat is so pretty. Why do all of her clothes have to be so gorgeous', but so very, very expensive? It's evil.)
