Who Wore Burberry Prorsum Better?

Who Wore It Better?
Burberry Prorsum FW 2013
Heart Print Shirt

Forget about spots and stripes, this season it's all about heart prints, which have been popularized by Burberry Prorsum and their irresistible Fall/Winter 2013 collection. After this claret red polka heart shirt hit the runway, it became an instant hit with stars everywhere. Here's a closer look...

Karlie Kloss captured all interest at the Burberry Prorsum FW13 runway show, sharply dressed in this distinctive heart print silk crépe blouse with detachable velvet-finish rubber collar and heritage-inspired epaulettes. Karlie's look was paired with a burgundy translucent rubber pencil skirt, a leopard and check print Burberry bag and animal print flats.

1. South Korean star Yoon Eun Hye was the first to wear the deep red heart print blouse out, back in June 2013. She styled it with the runway skirt, a studded animal print bag and black platform pumps. I find her bag competing for attention with the blouse.
2. Paula Patton picked out the same sophisticated look straight off the catwalk, for an appearance in NYC just last week. The 37-year-old actress added white pumps to her outfit.
3. Bollywood beauty Jacqueline Fernandez wore her heart patterned blouse with a slick pair of burgundy jeans, accompanied by a black leather belt and Christian Louboutin heels.

4. Tamar Braxton is yet another fan to fall for the charms of this adorably printed blouse. She also wore the look this September, with a pair of distressed denim jeans, a multi-chain-link belt and black Christian Louboutin pumps.
5. Whilst everyone else wore the Burberry shirt for publicity shots, Victoria Beckham buttoned up in style for a trip to the airport earlier this month. The designer strolled through JFK in the polka heart blouse, teamed with bootleg jeans, platform heels & oversized sunnies.

The heart print shirt was also prominent in the pages of magazines & Fall campaigns, seen on Lily Collins (in Glamour), Sienna Miller and Elle Fanning in Vogue Australia

If you have a spare $795 lying around, this elegant claret red heart print shirt with detachable rubber collar can be all yours from Burberry.com. Or you could get a cheaper copy via Choies.

As for 'Who Wore It Best', my vote goes to Victoria, her high-waisted flared out jeans were the prefect finish for a chic 70's inspired look. A special mention also goes out to Yoon Eun, I liked the refinement of her look, but without those chunky shoes and the over-detailed bag.

Friday Frills

Just because you might think differently or be different from others, doesn’t make you wrong.
Stay focused on your own individuality and dare to express your own uniqueness.

If others can’t accept it or adjust to whom you really are, then it’s up to you
whether you allow them to influence and share in your life.

Don’t change your true colors of who you are
to keep in the expectations and comfort zones of others.

Maybe the reason why you are not your happiest is because you’re trying too hard to
fit into someone else’s way of thinking, and by nature, that’s not who you are.

Pay attention to the rhythm of your own soul in life and start doing things for yourself in a way that makes you happy, and not according to what other people think you should be.

Milan Fashion Week Street Style SS14

Street Style
Milan Fashion Week
Spring/Summer 2014

Milan brought us unparalleled glamour this past fashion week, presenting more formal looks than we have previously seen in New York and London. Along with it were quirky clutches, thrilling shoes and that usual chic Italian flair. Here are some of the hottest looks and trends from the street stylistas at Milan Fashion week.

Maxi Mode
Beguiling maxi dresses and floaty skirts graced the Italian avenues. Only in Milan would you see evening wear worn in the day down the street as if it were completely normal...it probably is over there. I loved the coral clutch and braided hairstyle that complement the first animal print sheer maxi skirt. The second look sees a gorgeous emerald green skirt accented by bold jewellery. Patricia Mansfield is stunning in a charcoal grey plated Halston gown (pictured third) and Veronika Heilbrunner looked lovely in a white embroidered Cavalli dress (last).

Polished
Structure and sophistication is always prevalent at Milan Fashion Week, where inky black ensembles capture the mystic of the city. The first look is the height of modern refinement with a black skater skirt and sleek fitted top. Vogue Australia fashion editor Christine Centenera looked suave in a white shirt with black wrap skirt, leather leggings and edgy leather boots. Jong Kol (third) wore a poetic draped cherub print top and cigarette trousers. Bibi Bevza looked beautiful in a voluminous black dress with cuffed heels (last).

Midi Skirts Milan Style
The midi skirt trend has made its way to Milan with an array of uniquely styled looks. The cream Celine skirt proved to be a popular choice - pictured first on journalist Kate Waterhouse with a leopard print top and cap-toed shoes. Blogger Maria Kolosova paired her red leather skirt with a white shirt and dazzling sandals (second). Sofia Guellaty (third) wears a matching cropped top and vibrantly printed skirt with cerise shoes. The last outfit refreshing places flats in the mix with a cute sailor hat, white pleated skirt and playful printed tank.

Laid Back Glam
Easy glamour has never been this simple to follow, all you need is a flattering pair of trousers, an elegant blouse or blazer and interesting accessories like a designer bag and adorably chic hat. I love the white ruffled Chloe blouse Natasha Goldenberg wears in the second outfit and the flaired 70's inspired plaid pants in the third look worn by Maria Kolosova.

Floral Flair
Floral prints beautifully culminated the end of summer with this striking set of looks. Italian blogger Eleonora Carisi caught the attention of photographers in two different fully printed outfits (pictured first and third). The second and last looks are perfectly complemented by brightly coloured clutches and heels.

Girly Grunge
The balance between feminine and masculine style is maintained by adding heavier leather elements to dainty dresses. Look one teams a sporty grey sweater with a sexy white sheer lace skirt and sturdy leather sandals. Look two styles a bright pink dress with a slick black biker jacket, satchel bag and bulky boots. Oksana On (pictured third) pairs her pretty cream Chanel chiffon and lace dress with grungy Balenciaga buckle boots.

Metallics
Why save shimmer for the night when you can outshine the sun? This stylish set of ladies have proven that metallics can be worn during the day. Sara Rosetta (first) wears her glossy gold Zara skirt with a prim white Calvin Klein shirt. The second outfit boasts high shine sequins in a voguish mini dress. Anna Dello Russo glimmers in a gold Prada pinafore dress (pictured third). The last outfit features a bronze metallic jacket worn over all white.

Solo Tones
Rainbow shades brought a much needed brightness to Milan street style with bold monotones in colours that speak louder than words. Love the cobalt blue jumpsuit with printed blazer and the emerald green skirt (pictured last) worn with a Kenzo tiger print tank top.

Cara Delevingne for Vogue Australia 2013

Cover Girl Cara Delevingne
Vogue Australia
October 2013

Supermodel extraordinaire Cara Delevingne lends her unique charm to Vogue Australia for their October 2013 issue. The Brit beauty is (un)officially enthroned as fashion royalty in the glossy magazine, pictured in a gold tiara. Lensed by Benny Horne, she is attired in a mix of monarchical and modern looks from the Fall/Winter 2013 runway collections.

Cara Delevingne is crowned as the epitome of cool on the cover of the Vogue Australia, dressed in a glitzy gold sequined Dolce & Gabbana dress that highlights ecclesial mosaics.

Cara's cover look is combined with a classic beige trench coat by Burberry London.

The pink winter coat trend is romantically conveyed via this satin Louis Vuitton version, trimmed with fur. It is worn over a checked slip maxi dress dipped in gold paillettes.

The 21-year-old model is dressed by Chanel in a sophisticated multi-thread tweed jacket and pleated skirt. Her endearing outfit is caped by a winsome white Vera Wang fur stole.

An eclectic mix of designer pieces are thrown together to create this flamboyant Liberace-like look. Cara wears a blue floral embroidered Tom Ford coat with red fur lining, which is layered over a leather Ann Demuelemeester top and a velvet Giorgio Armani skirt.

Pattern clashing prevails in this intrepid blend of statement pieces, with a red rose embroidered Lanvin dress, a teal leather Prada coat with fur cuffs and jazzy mustard and maroon floral Tom Ford boots (seen one above on the runway worn by Joan Smalls).

Cara channels the glam rock movement in a black leather long sleeved quilted top and fuchsia satin draped skirt with thigh-high suede boots and wide belt, all by Balmain.

An imposing black halter neck Ralph Lauren gown with tented skirt is given a Fall revival, paired with a digital 3D-printed Peter Pilotto coat that features a colossal fur collar (which incidentally, Cara also wore on the runway).

Cara echoes an 18th century princess, ornately dressed in a magnificent white Alexander McQueen design which features an intricately beaded and ruffled Victorian collar and embroidered cut-out bodice with attached voluminous puff sleeves. Her regal look is topped off with a gold geometric crown.

Friday Frills

Courage is admitting that you’re afraid and facing that fear directly.
It is being strong enough to ask for help and humble enough to accept it.

Courage is standing up for what you believe in without worrying about the opinions of others. It’s following your own heart, living your own life and settling for nothing less than the best.

Courage is daring to take the first step, a big leap, or a different path. It’s attempting to do something that no one has done before and all others thought impossible.

Courage is keeping heart in the face of disappointment & looking at defeat not as an end, but as a new beginning. It’s believing that things will ultimately get better even as they get worse.

Courage is being responsible for your own actions and admitting your own mistakes without placing the blame on others. It’s about not relying on others for your success, but on your own skills and efforts.

Courage is refusing to quit even when you are intimidated by impossibility. It’s choosing a goal, sticking with it, and finding solutions to the problems.

Courage is thinking big, aiming high, and shooting far. It’s taking a dream and doing anything, risking everything, and stopping at nothing to make it a reality.

The London Look - Fashion Week 2013

London Fashion Week
Spring/Summer 2014
Street Style

Peering through the stylish rain-soaked London Streets, it seems as though New York was a just a distant memory, and summer along with it. With cooler weather, street style heated up at LFW this week, with an array of editors, stylists and bloggers stepping out in premier style. What struck me the most about the difference in style at London Fashion Week compared to NYC, was the play on broader proportions, cutting-edge trends, the chunkier heels and polished layering. These are the looks that will surely inspire our Fall/Winter 2013 wardrobes.

The Midi Skirt
Midi skirts with flaired out shapes in luxe fabrics like satin and leather are a popular Fall piece, paired with plain or printed sweaters and at least one dynamic accessory, be it a bright heel, bag or scarf..or perhaps even all three. The first brick red skirt is from Vince Camuto, worn with a snug black knit, statement necklace and bright blue heels. I love the polished femininity of the second look with the striped top, nay skirt and red clutch. The last outfit combines leather and checks, dotted with red for a very voguish look.

The Sweater Set
Laid back sweaters and cozy knits are given an elegant makeover with exemplary styling. This LFW must-have was styled with elegant skirts in all shapes and designer sling bags. The first grey slouchy sweater is teamed with sexy knee-high boots & a YSL bag for an urban appeal. Word printed jumpers are layered over prim shirts and A-line skirts, seen in the second & fourth outfits. I love the girly red ruffled skirt & crystal necklace that styles Look 3. Fashion director Leila Yavari (last) looked swanky in a fuzzy white sweater and chic pencil skirt.

The Pink Winter Coat
This candy pink shaded coat has become an instant style sensation for Fall/Winter 2014. Blogger Camille Charriére (left) stands out in a sophisticated pink coat worn over a grey tee and black mini skirt. Stylist Tess Yopp is jazzy in her youthful scribbled version of a pink coat, savvily styled with a tri-tone Celine bag. The third trendy look features an appealing pink Jil Sander robe coat worn over jeans. JiYoung Kim (pictured fourth) contrasts her rose pink polo neck sweater with a plum and pink coat and navy blue skirt.

Checking In
London was chock a block with plaids, checks and tartan...and this is only the beginning of the seasons' print craze. The first look sees a brazen mix of blue and red checks, offset by a navy blazer and animal print heels. Chicly clad blogger Sandra Hagelstam (second) was pictured in a fully printed navy suit, with a plush black fur vest and quilted bag. A pop of neon yellow brightens up the third plaid shirt & navy shorts ensemble. Blogger Nicole Warne (last) combines navy and baby blue, subscribing to the geometric print with a checked skirt & heels.

The Classic Camel Coat
These fashionistas have taken the classic camel coat and restyled and modernized it to fit in with current trends. The first look sees a two-tone camel coat worn with skinny pinstripe pants and metallic Oxfords. Look 2 combines a more structured jacket with a modish red and white checked dress and grungy ankle boots. And lastly, blogger Peony Lim looks refined in her timeless trench, worn over a white quilted skirt and leopard print ankle boots.

Seeing Red
These ladies have painted the the streets of London red with an intense crimson hue. Peony Lim (left) is pictured in a tailored red blazer, worn over a denim shirt & striped skirt. Love that her umbrella matches her outfit. A denim dungaree (second) is another fashion vessel that ideally carries the chicness of a tuxedo coat. A red high-waisted trousers is paired with a sheer navy checked blouse and matching bag in Look 3. Linda Tol (last) dons a striking scarlet Alexander McQueen jacket with a grid print Sportmax dress and 3.1 Philip Lim bag.

Burgundy & Blue
My favourite set from London Fashion Week is the unexpected but attractive color blend of burgundy and cobalt blue. Neutralized by black, grey or white, a pop of electric blue can be added to your outfit via coats, bags and statement shoes. Floppy hats are the perfect boho-chic accessory, as seen the first and last outfits, which also features the in-vogue coloured coats. Fashion editor Joanna Hillman (second) wears a linear print Tanya Miller sweater with trim leather Tibi trousers and Alexander Wang heels. In Look 3, a long grey and maroon vest brings life to all white, spiced with bright blue heels and an oversized clutch.

Oversized Silhouettes
Oversized silhouettes have moved from the runway to the roadside with these chic bloggers and stylists fully embracing the trend. This will dispel the myth that only models can wear volume and get away with it. A large coat slung over the shoulders is the easiest way to achieve this look, as seen in the first two outfits. A roomy rose pink jersey is beautifully contrasted with a strong geometric skirt in Christine Centenera's outfit (pictured third). Peggy Gould (pictured last) brings in a sporty element with an oversized sweat shirt, slickly mixed with a long navy gilet and burgundy laser-cut leather skirt.

Which street style trend from London Fashion Week will you be most likely to wear?
