The Denim Jumpsuit Trend
Let's face it, the denim jumpsuit isn't the easiest item of clothing to wear, yet it has ranked favorably amongst retailers & fashion followers everywhere this season. Styled the wrong way & people may mistake you for a mechanic, but wear it with flair & this 90's comeback trend can be transformed into something striking. Celebrities have also embraced this androgynous fashion fad, each adding their own spin on it, but in the end, it all comes down to styling.
Gwen Stefani reworks her G-Star denim jumpsuit for a comfortably chic trip to the airport. Even at 43, Gwen wears this youthful trend with ease. The No Doubt singer added mirrored sunnies, metallic flat strappy sandals and a hippy headband to her look. She also carries a black and white slouchy striped bag.
Rachel Zoe gives us serious denim envy in her 70's inspired outfit, which comprises a short-sleeved onesie with wrap-over bodice and skinny fit-pants. Flavouring her look with a bohemian theme, Rachel dons a wide-brimmed straw hat, retro sunglasses, a chunky gold collar necklace and Christian Louboutin tan and raffia wedges.
Rihanna has been keen on the full denim trend since last year, making the most of her distressed Armani jumpsuit. RiRi shows us the versatility of this tricky piece.
Left: Rihanna takes a masculine approach to styling her suit with a tartan and studded black cap, a chunky gold Melody Ehsani lion pendant neckpiece and camel Timberland combat boots.
Middle: The Barbadian singer folds down the top part of her denim jumpsuit for a more grungy vibe, tying the sleeves around her waist. She paired it with a grey Ksubi Channel novelty t-shirt and flat black loafers.
Right: Upstyling her denim uniform for a night out, RiRi adds a pair of classic black Christian Louboutin pumps.
Kylie Monique wears an uber fitted version of the denim jumpsuit trend, in this dark wash MET BEL pair with gold hardware buttons. The Aussie singer added height and glamour with nude Christian Louboutin Pigalle pumps.
Ellen Pompeo keeps the styling of her full length denim look casual and easygoing. Her faded Etoile Isabel Marant jumpsuit features rolled up cuffs, wide legged trousers and a zipped down front. Ellen wears black heels and carries a brown Chloé bag.
Heidi Klum accessorized her Closed denim jumpsuit with a black and silver studded skinny belt and black peep-toe platforms by Christian Louboutin for a cool urban look.
It seems that a denim jumpsuit isn't just a one-season wonder and can in fact be a flexible and fashionable piece. As for 'Who Wore It Best', my vote goes to Rachel Zoe, her boho styling is impeccable and she makes this a trend that is actually appealing for even those without the supermodel height.
