Pop Art has navigated its way from gallery walls and comic strips onto the skirts, shirts and dresses of Karla Spetic's Fall 2012 collection. The Australian designer takes an unconventional and tongue-in-cheek approach to the cooler season with her blithe designs, inspired by the 60's art works of Roy Lichtenstein. Aptly named 'Heart', the collection was released to an Australian audience, but its mass appeal and quirkiness has transcended borders.
A bold palette of contrasting colours are washed across this whimsical range - powder blue, acid yellow, dove grey and cherry red. Silhouettes find their foundation in the flirty 50's, while the chic cuts and detailing linger on modern times. We are presented with flaired A-line skirts in sheer organza, boxy military coats, the unexpected overall, chunky knit neons and stripes, cut-out shoulders and retro comic print frocks, all flavoured with the allure of leopard print and a bag full of charm. Karla takes her effervescent range one step further by animating high heels with quirky cartoon sketches. The looks are also styled with brogues, a defined cat-eye and side swept bed head hair.

Whist this collection may not be everyone's cup of fashion tea, I love that it is infused with imagination, bold expression and a very good sense of humour.
Cute or Kitsch? What are your thoughts on Karla Spetic's Fall 2012 'Heart' range?

Oh, Sam, how I love your pen! You have a deliciuos way of conveying your opinions.
Indeed, Spetic's designs are kind of quirky, but cool. The Lichtenstein tops paired with the see-through skirts are of my fave looks.
Thanks again for your sweet comments and have a wonderful week!

I love your posts when you showcase designers - the collections are always so out of this world and innovative, they're fab.

There are many pieces that I loved! The black skirt, pale jacket, red coat, yellow shirt! Really a colorful but wearable collection, with a twist! I really loved it! Need to lose some weight (struuuggling!) to wear these beautiful things again... :)
Just wondering whether or not those see-through skirts will ever catch on. I've been seeing them on the runways for years now and have yet to see any women out there actually sporting one

I want that grey dress, it's so lovely and perfect for fall. I like when designers are able to have fun with their designs and create something unique and young.
Really mixed feelings here. I love some of the printed dresses but some of the pants seem ick!
