Dress Déja Vu

This week, I noticed two upcoming Hollywood starlets wearing remarkably similar dresses - but by two completely different designers. Pretty blonde 'Footloose' actress Julianne Hough and 'Twilight' star Ashley Greene chose matt gold mini dresses, embroidered with a glossier gold swirl-like pattern. It's safe to say that designers are often inspired by the same things, in this case two-tone gold & a rose petal design.

Left: Julianne Hough wore a dress by Mumbai born designer Naeem Khan to the 15th Annual Hollywood Film Awards Gala. It has a plunging neckline, short sleeves and embellished waistband. She paired it with nude peep-toe pumps, a gorgeous tan and wavy locks.
Right: Ashley Greene was in Brussels to attend the premiere of 'The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn Part 1'. The brunette actress wore a gold dress by American designer L' Wren Scott, also with a deep V-neck, emphasised waist design and metallic gold rose motif. Her nude heels are by Brian Atwood. I think strappy gold sandals would have been a better fit.

Both these dresses seem like they could be from the same collection or designer, don't you think?

Good eye! They are quite similar..... I like Julianne's better, not too fond of the in-line rose pattern, I prefer the more random print. And I like the little sleeve.

HMM, well, which dress was designed first? I sense a copy cat lurking somewhere!!

If I had to choose though, I would go with Julianne Hough. They are very similiar, but I prefer the dress she is wearing.

I think that Ashley Greene wore it better. The dress wasn´t extremely sexy and it´s color complemented her skin tone very well. :)

I totally agree. From the v-neck neckline to the cut of the dress in addition to the aesthetic, these dresses almost mirror each other in inspiration.

How strange!! They are eerily similar. I wonder if it is a coincidence or what. :S

I do love both dresses though. They are both cute, sexy, and chic!

Both dresses are gorgeous but I think Ashley would have sparkled more in silver version of the dress.

I choose Ashley Greene, Julianne's dress plunged wayyy too deep for me, I prefer the subtlety of Ashley's dress. And yeah, I agree, strappy gold sandals would've suited her dress better.

First of all, congrats on your very enjoyable blog!! As for this post, to me that's a clear case of what I call "two ideas, one brain". Quite a frequent circumstance in the fashion world.
