Mirror Mirror


I have learnt that everything is beautiful, but being beautiful isn't everything.
 Sometimes beauty is an outward display of captivating good looks, but most of the time, it's an inward reflection of a beautiful, benevolent heart, a caring soul and an engaging mind. Beauty isn't measured by the digits on a scale, by the tiara in a beauty pageant or by the shade on a box of hair dye. Beauty doesn't fall within the rigid realms and narrow expectations that society conceptualizes it to be. It lies within you. Within your ability to rise above very obstacle, your belief in a greater good and contribution thereof, and in your capacity to offer compassion without expectancy, and kindness without gratitude. It is found in the flashlight of strength that you're able to shine through life's darkest moments, your courage to face the dawn of every new day, your innate glow, set alight by your unfading optimism and charismatic spirit. It lies in your confidence to be yourself, and not a mirror image of what you see in a magazine. In your willingness to learn from your mistakes. In your patience to accept criticism; and to use it constructively, not destructively. Gazing into a mirror will only show what you want to see; it's your choice to either let that be the best that's within you or the superficial constraints that society places upon you.

Declarations Of A Drama Queen


There are some things that I'll never understand...Like how pictures never change but the people in them do. How your best friend can become your worst enemy, or how strange it is when your worst enemy turns into your best friend. How forever turns into a few short months that you'd do anything to get back. How you can let go of something you once said you couldn't live without. What you once thought was best for you turned out to be the worst decision you've ever made. When you thought you knew it all, there was something more to be learnt. How quickly trends pass but how steadfast true style remains. How in just one instance your entire life can change. How the people who once wanted to spend every second with you, think a few minutes of their time is too much to spare. How people make promises despite knowing how common it is for promises to be broken. All the things we said we'd never be are the people we've become. It's strange how we make money but buy friends. How you can have a closet full of clothes but nothing to wear. How we have the ability to hear, but not to listen. How we easily accept insults but shyly refuse compliments. How you can take a step forward yet still be in the same place. That we think about tomorrow before we are able to get through today. Sometimes you have to remove the clouds to see the bigger picture.

Gossip Girls

This is for anyone who's ever had anything said about them behind their back - which is probably everyone. I'm sure we've all been victims of the wicked word hurl called Gossip. It stems from half truths, hearsay, secret slipping, eavesdropping and a whole lot of miscommunication. Isn't it strange how rumours grow as they are spread along from person to person? What starts out as just one made up line about someone ends up being a descriptive, deceitful and damaging novel about them. According to Earl Wilson, 'Gossip' is "hearing something you like about someone you don't." No wonder it's so popular...

I have learnt that you can't stop people from talking about you, but you can chose not to let their words get the better of you. I have also learnt that you can't believe everything everyone tells you. You have to take rumours with a pinch of salt, or rather, a whole canister. I share with you some interesting, insightful, funny and slightly dramatic sayings about gossip.
