Screen Actors Guild Awards 2014

Awards Season continued this past weekend with the 20th Annual SAG Awards held in Hollywood. This is a summary of designer dresses worn on the red carpet.

Blue Belles

Morena Baccarin started off the blue trend of the evening in a sapphire chiffon pleated Monique Lhuillier gown. Amy Adams made an imposing appearance in this well-crafted royal blue Antonio Berardi dress with uneven neckline and beaded belt. Ariel Winter was printed in a blue shaded Badgley Mischka gown with cross-banded bodice. TV actress Anna Gunn looked chic in a shimmery navy Monique Lhuillier netted column dress.

Elegant Anchors

TV anchor Renee Bargh looked beautiful in a scarlet red Steven Khahil gown with lace covered bodice. Giuliana Rancic opted for a grape shaded halter-neck Basil Soda gown with nipped in waist. Rosci Diaz poshed up in a slinky black Victoria Beckham cut-out dress, accented with a hot pink clutch. Kelly Osbourne picked this blue ruched satin mermaid dress by her go-to designer, Zac Posen.

Pretty Pale

SAG winner Cate Blanchett wore a draped pastel pink Givenchy gown with sequin trimmed bodice and straps. Maria Menounos goes Grecian in this stunning gold exposed corset dress with flowing peach skirt by Rani Zakhem. Kaley Cuoco was dressed in an ice grey Vera Wang gown with fishtail skirt. 'New Girl' actress Hannah Simone looked pretty in a lilac chiffon Marchesa gown with floral ruffled neck.

Modern Lines

Michelle Dockery wears a modern monochromatic look by J.Mendel. Gretchen Mol also opted for a dress by J.Mendel, hers in all white with a mesh tshirt and draped skirt. Lena Heady went graphic in a striped apricot and navy Jenny Packham gown with tie-up halter neck. Natalie Dormer's edgy grid-sleeved white gown is by Marios Schwab. Julie Bowen was bold in an orange bodice and digi-print skirt by Carolina Herrera. 

 Above Board

Sarah Paulson sticks to her girly style stanza in this endearing white ankle-cropped dress by Rochas. Kerry Washington took a gamble in this cerise pink beaded cropped top and flaired out skirt by Prada. Sarah Hyland was graceful in a petal pink high-low hem dress by Pamella Roland. Sasha Alexander also went for the higher hem trend in a dashing red strapless Alberta Ferretti dress, accented with black accessories.

Black Out

'Game of Thrones' actress Sophie Turner donned a black embossed Dolce & Gabbana gown with peach waistband. Katrina Bowden looked fetching in a fitted black Badgely Mischka dress with gold embroidered neckline. Downton Abbey's Cara Theobold wore a retro silhouette in this flutter sleeve dress by Alice Temperley. TV presenter Alex Hudgens kept it classy in a structured black off-the-shoulder gown.

Ornate Attire

Malin Akerman went elaborate in a heavily beaded black and gold Naeem Khan gown. Vionnet dressed Claire Danes in a glossy blue paillette dress with sheer panels. Amanda Peet picked out an uninspiring navy and bronze flower embroidered midi dress. Game of Thrones' Rose Leslie was styled in a difficult-to-wear Temperley London dress with lavender lace see-through bodice and leopard print maxi skirt.

Colour Card

Camilla Alves showed off her curves in a radiant saffron yellow wrapped gown by Dolce & Gabbana. Jane Krakowski's one-shouldered apple green gown is by Roland Mouret. Sandra Bullock continues to experiment with new styles, pictured here in a metallic emerald green Lanvin dress with draped waist and high slit. Award winner Lupito Nyong'o stunned in an aqua blue figure-hugging Gucci column gown with flower-embellished neck. Actress Zoe Kazan wore a turquoise and navy printed dress with bow-decked neckline.

Ink Pad

Anna Chlumsky was refined in an asymmetrical inky blue and white gown by Sophie Theallet. Jennifer Garner displayed her elegant taste in this midnight blue Max Mara gown with belted waist. Award winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus wore a simplistic Monique Lhuillier look in navy and indigo blue.

Berry Tint

Elisabeth Moss looked outstanding in a cherry red Michael Kors sweetheart strapless gown with black waistband. Actress Margot Bingham was poised in a crimson fitted silhouette. Julia Roberts interestingly did not wear a dress but instead opted for a raspberry wide-leg jumpsuit by Valentino. Veteran actress Holly Hunter blended into the red carpet with her tasteful Randi Rahm gown.

Metallic Sheen

Laura Carmichael donned a shimmery beige Vionnet dress with asymmetrical draped side hemline. Emilia Clarke had a shining moment in this rose gold one-sleeved Calvin Klein gown. Jennifer Lawrence didn't run of Dior dresses it seems, pictured in a lustrous coal black column gown with flickers of coloured sequins. Sofia Vergara always knows how to compliment her amazing figure, dressed in a glittering silver beaded Donna Karan Atelier gown. Isla Fisher took vintage inspiration in this silver satin v-neck gown by Oscar de la Renta.

The cold season has barely passed and already magazines are showcasing trends for Spring. Harper's Bazaar UK has perceptively selected key looks from top designer collections off the Spring/Summer 2014 catwalks. These are the themes and trends that will navigate what we are going to wear next season.  Top French model Julia Frauche is lensed by Tom Allen in this insightful editorial, entitled 'The Collections'.

Spring is hailed in with a myraid of brights, in this colourfully printed tweed jacket with asymmetrical neckline and matching skirt by Chanel. Julia also wears the same leather and wool sock boots as on the runway.

Julia is pretty in a sheer lavender lace pencil skirt and organza shirt by Burberry Prorsum, superbly teamed with a grey cashmere cardigan, pink rubber heels and a leather clutch.

Bringing a light and airy ambiance to Spring 2014, Chloé presents a white georgette dress with tie-up sleeves.

Already proving to be a popular collection for SS14, the blonde, blue-eyed beauty wears Miu Miu's cream silk printed high-neck dress, styled with a red leather cuff and handbag.

Dior combines a lush orange silk top with a blue pearl textured neck piece & silk petal pink tulip pleated skirt.

Easy glamour is instantly attained with Michael Kor's Spring/Summer 2014 range. Julia is pictured in a khaki linen dress printed in white florals, accessorized with a leather belt and wooden platform sandals.

Prada's quirky and slightly offbeat Spring range is represented with a olive and apple green bikini print dress and blue face-motif skirt. The look is given sporty styling with woolen leg warmers and suede shoes.

Riccardo Tisci took to Africa for inspiration for Givenchy's Spring/Summer 2014 collection, seen in this earthily shaded and upstyled safari look with draped one-shoulder and sequined panels. Flat leather sandals add to the natural essence of this dress.

Saint Laurent glams up menswear for Spring 2014 in this seductive black silk jumpsuit with tuxedo collar and low V-neck. Julia wears a leather belt and silver ankle boots with her look.

We can always rely on Dolce & Gabbana to retain an air of romance and grace for the season. Julia is beautiful in a white almond blossom printed chiffon dress with butterfly sleeves and dainty pink floral appliqués. A crystal headband tops off this charming outfit.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have Tom Ford with this tough caramel leather quilted jacket and skirt.

Julia wears the tribal trend in this sienna and sand printed silk kaftan dress by Donna Karan, complimented with a brown leather belt, studded sandals and chunky leather necklace.

Gucci conveys their regular brand of modern luxury in this sheer black georgette dress with burgundy and gold interwoven panels, chicly worn with a pair of black trousers.

Julia shows us the prettier side of Spring 2014 in Giorgio Armani's carnation pink and mint jacquard cut-out floral swing dress.

The 24-year-old model is decked in a neutral Salvatore Ferragamo palette featuring a cotton bomber jacket, cream jumper and pleated skirt. Buckled leather heels complete this ivory outfit.

Taking a graphic turn for Spring 2014, Ralph Lauren incorporates a dizzying grid print into this monochromatic three-piece wide-legged suit, refined by a floral tie and white shirt.

Colourful graffiti is splashed across Céline's Spring 2014 collection in their playful attempt at womenswear. Julia wears an oversized collared shirt and jazzy silk printed skirt with leather shoes.

Valentino plays a folksong with this forest green lace maxi dress, decorated by a florid tapestry of red and gold. A brass necklace, studded headband and metal cuff polish off this ethnically imperial look.

Spring/Summer 2014 Dress

Iconic brand Burberry is synonymous with British high society, so it's no surprise seeing the same look once more than once. The outfit in question is a fetching candy pink lace ensemble with collared short-sleeve shirt and fitted pencil skirt. Three famous British celebrities vie for the title of having worn this delightful Burberry Prorsum Spring 2014 dress better.

1. Style Icon Alexa Chung was the first to wear the ladylike Burberry Prorsum dress off the runway, at a launch for her Eyeko makeup line in December 2013. The DJ/Model banished the winter chills with a smokey grey oversized coat and a pair of flat leopard print loafers.
2. Cara Delevingne presented this pleasing sheer pink lace shirt and pencil skirt on the Burberry Prorsum runway last September. The supermodel was styled with a mint and green leather clutch and vivid pink T-bar sandals.
3. Most recently, we admired Paloma Faith at the Burberry FW14 Menswear show in London last week. The usually eccentrically dressed singer cleaned up exceptionally well in this beguiling pink lace look, creatively pairing it with a pastel blue overcoat. Paloma added a metallic clutch and pumps to her outfit.

As for 'Who Wore It Better?', all three Brit 'It Chicks' look incredibly stylish in their own right, and although I prefer Cara's runway clutch, my vote goes to Paloma Faith, simply because she inspired me with a charming new colour confection of bubblegum pink and powder blue.

Last nights' Golden Globes upped the awards season fashion ante with far more many hits than misses on the red carpet. These are (almost) all the looks from the star-studded event.

Wine & Dine

Award winner Amy Adams is decked in a burgundy and brick red low-neck dress by Valentino. Giuliana Rancic went for a fuller silhouette in this wine red embellished bodice gown by Lorena Sarbu. Stylish newcomer Lupita Nyong'o does grand justice to this crimson red caped off-the-shoulder gown by Ralph Lauren. Ariel Winter sheds her teen image in a sophisticated draped burgundy dress by Mikael D. Emma Watson took a style risk in a red Dior Couture dress-over-pants ensemble with open back.

A Glance at Romance

Zooey Deschanel presented this dainty ivory Oscar de la Renta look with beaded cropped top & fairyesque tulle skirt. Sarah Paulson was romantic in a fluttery ice grey tiered tulle dress by Marchesa. Michelle Dockery looked stunning in an oyster grey high-low hemmed Oscar de la Renta dress, scattered with gold beadwork. TV host Rachel Smith was gorgeous in a blush pink Nicole Miller gown with embellished neckline. 

Evening Allure

Lizzy Caplan polished up in a form-fitting Emilio Pucci dress with geometric gold sheer-cut sleeves and neckline. Aussie actress Margot Robbie was alluring in a white Gucci dress with crystal beaded braiding and high split. Amber Heard put her best foot forward in a slinky midnight blue one-shouldered Versace gown. French actress Julie Delpy was enigmatic in a striking red one-strap gown by Romona Keveza.

Colour-Blocked

Aubrey Plaza paired lilac and violet in this strapless Oscar de la Renta dress, spiced with a cerise clutch and printed heels. Sandra Bullock was boldly colour-blocked in this pink, blue and black Prabal Gurung gown. Taylor Swift is always a red carpet marvel, delighting in this raspberry and black Carolina Herrera gown. Julie Bowen picked a rich colour mix in this ruby velvet and aubergine fishtail dress by Carolina Herrera.

Dramatically Black

Lily Rabe wore a see-through sequin sprayed organza ballgown by Georges Hobeika. Julianna Margulies donned a gold foil printed gown by Andrew Gn. Cate Blanchett was elegantly dressed in a gossamer black lace Armani Privé gown. Sofia Vergara piled on the drama in this strapless and massive skirted black gown by Zac Posen, accented by a statement turquoise necklace.

In Sequin-ce

Camilla Alves wore a lacquered black sequined gown by Dolce & Gabbana. Naomi Watts was simply refined in a shimmery matt gold column dress by Tom Ford. Olivia Wilde showed off her baby bump in a glistening emerald green Gucci gown. Elisabeth Moss divided critics in this chocolate sequined J.Mendel number.

Flower Bed

A pregnant Drew Barrymore was radiant in a sheer Monique Lhuillier gown, decorated with orange and pink floral appliqués. Host Tina Fey picked a glaring red and black floral printed Carolina Herrera gown. Kaley Cuoco looked engaging in a faded floral watercolour gown by Rani Zakhem.

Neutral Territory 

Paula Patton took a ruffled risk is this white Stephané Rolland couture gown with oversized frills. Rocsi Diaz looked beguiling in a cream and white ruffle-paneled dress. E!News host Catt Sadler pleasantly surprised in this nude lace embroidered Paolo Sebastian mermaid gown. Mum-to-be Kerry Washington was dressed in a custom made eggshell dress byBalenciaga. Robin Wright wore a gold halter gown by Reem Acra.

Fluorescent 

Melissa Rauch looked sunny in a canary yellow off-the-shoulder Romona Keveza dress. Maria Menounos was outstanding in a bright fuchsia cut-out panel gown by Max Azria. Louise Roe radiated poise in this stunning tangerine Monique Lhuillier gown with lace inserts. Taylor Schilling's candy apple green slip dress is by Thakoon. Lena Dunham made a bold appearance in this lucid neon yellow Zac Posen gown.

 Monochrome Part 1

Laura Carmichael starts off the biggest trend of the evening, in this chic black and white strapless dress by Viktor & Rolf. Hayden Panettiere follows suit in a monochromatic number by Tom Ford. Zosia Mamet prints up the trend in this floral embroidered look by Reem Acra. Allison Williams provides her own spin to the fad in this feathered Alexander McQueen gown. Julia Roberts plays down the formality of her black Dolce & Gabbana dress by wearing a white collared shirt underneath.

Monochrome Part 2

Zoe Saldana brings her charm to this eclectic black and white Prabal Gurung midi dress with sheer embroidered hem. Jennifer Lawrence made a stately entrance in this snow white strapless Dior dress with black bands on the bodice and voluminous skirt. Heidi Klum dons a floral embroidered slip dress by Marchesa. Jenna Dewan-Tatum was splendidly dressed in a black and white beaded Roberto Cavalli gown.

Silver Linings

Kata Mara wears a silver grey draped dress with pleated chiffon skirt by J.Mendel. Mila Kunis made a welcomed return to the red carpet in a dazzling silver beaded bodice dress by Gucci. Tatiana Maslany looked beautiful in a shimmery grey Jenny Packham gown. Kate Beckinsale was spellbinding in a lustrous gunmetal gown by Zuhair Murad. Proenza Schouler custom made this printed grayscale gown for Emilia Clarke.

Pretty Pigments

Reese Witherspoon worked this countered Calvin Klein gown to her advantage, standing out in a shade of jade green. Sarah Hyland looked pretty in a winsome apricot Georges Hobeika gown. Caitlin Fitzgerald deserves applause for the retro wonderment of this cornflower blue Emilia Wickstead dress with asymmetrical frilled skirt. Kyra Sedgewick shows off her toned arms in this coral sheath scuba gown by J.Mendel.

Classically Black 

Jessica Chastain exudes grace in an impeccably made black Givenchy dress. Leslie Mann revives the peplum trend with black lace in a dress by Dolce & Gabbana. Emma Roberts has never looked better, remarkably styled in this classic Lanvin gown with aqua earrings. Show co-host Amy Poehler was sophisticated in a black halter Stella McCartney dress with cut-out waist.

Creative with Colour

British songbird Paloma Faith impressed in this ladylike carnation pink lace Burberry Prorsum pencil dress, delightfully styled with a powder blue overcoat and metallic pumps.
Sandra Bullock gives in to brights this week in an eye-catching cerise and tangerine lace Alex Perry dress. Nude Brian Atwood heels tone down her look.
Lea Seydoux takes a colour plunge into this emerald green top and jewel embedded orange skirt, both by Miu Miu, further colourified by lavender pumps and a berry lip.
Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery is elegantly fitted in an curve-hugging black and orange long-sleeved midi dress by Barbara Casasola.


Denim Nation

Reality star Stephanie Pratt adds a fun print to her casual ensemble via floral jeans, teamed with a Brian Lichtenberg Feline tee, denim jacket and a snazzy neon colour-block bag.
Reese Witherspoon brightens up her denim skinnies with a hot pink sweater, adding on a fedora, Reed Krakoff tote bag and Tabitha Simmons leopard flats.
Alessandra Ambrosio doubles the denim in this chic street look, accessorized with a tan Hermes belt and Hermes bag and suede Rag & Bone ankle boots.
Cheryl Cole was pictured here in South Africa taking a stroll in a red leather Miu Miu jacket, worn over a white tee, skinny jeans and red Saint Laurent pointy-toe pumps.


Street Smart

Kate Mara gracefully stepped out in a midnight blue lace cropped top and skirt with co-ordinating bag and cap-toed heels.
Naya Rivera covers up her white lace cropped top and leather leggings with a cozy taupe teddy overcoat. Her fine-strapped sandals are by Stuart Weitzman.
Rachel Zoe threw on a voguish black caped coat with gold buttons, bootleg jeans, gold collar and a white fedora. Her classic tote is by The Row, with a Hermes cuff.


Pleasantly Pastel

Pace Wu shows off her incredible figure at 8 months pregnant, in this subdued little lime Valentino dress, contrasted by aqua blue heels.
Allison Williams wraps up in a powder blue Vionnet dress with pink & black Casadei pumps.
Chinese model Angelababy wears the sheer hem trend in this organza blush shaded Balenciaga dress with embroidered inner mini skirt and cap-toed Giuseppe Zanotti heels.


Mix & Match

Lea Seydoux gave us this candied ensemble to swoon over, consisting of a crystal studded rose pink Prada coat & floral print Miu Miu shift dress, paired with aquamint & orange shoes.
Angelababy strikes a modish pose in this multi-hued fringed Miu Miu look in lemon, ice blue and orange. Raspberry red stilettos finalized her outfit.
Spanish actress Elena Anaya dons slouchy harem pants in this peaches and cream outfit by Delpozo, which is coupled with a charming print sweater and  heeled brogues.
Taiwanese actress Shu Qi also takes a page out of the Miu Miu stylebook, which mixes busy prints in this lavender fringed dress and cream kitten printed coat.
