MTV Video Music Awards 2013
This Sunday saw the annual MTV Video Awards (VMAs) take place in New York City where a host of young talented stars strutted their stuff. There were far too many disappointing lackluster looks and just a few stand outs. This is the red carpet roundup.

Selena Gomez struck an attractive pose in a sexy fitted midnight blue Atelier Versace gown with sheer embroidered inner bustier. Sarah Hyland picked out a feminine gold and red wine chiffon layered gown by Marchesa. Zoey Deutch looked suave in a metallic gold bustier and skirt with black trims by Jonathan Simkhai. |

Katy Perry brought on the 'Roar' factor in an animal print Emanuel Ungaro dress decked with gold embellishments. Lady Gaga went goth in a custom made Prabal Gurung gown with bow-adorned waist and long rubber sequined train. |

Jillian Rose Reed was modernistic in a tangerine and white colourblocked cut-out dress by Three Floor. Miley Cyrus opted for an awkward 90's inspired ensemble by Dolce & Gabbana featuring a vintage black crop top & leggings embedded with colourful gemstones. |

Holland Roden stunned in an art deco embellished Naeem Khan ensemble with ivory ballroom skirt and tailored trousers underneath. Ciara turned heads in a sheer embroidered champagne gown by Givenchy, which features a feathered skirt. Rita Ora amped up the drama in an ice blue Alexandre Vauthier gown with low-neck crystal beaded bodice, black waistband and fully feathered skirt with daring slit. |

Selena Gomez looks amaze; risky dress but lucky for her it works. Ciara looks like a super star in that dress. Some of the looks are too underwhelming..like Jennifer Hudson, nice dress but not for this event.

Crystal Reed's dress is amazing but she doesn't show it off brilliantly. On the other hand Taylor Swift exudes elegance enough to make up for everybody else. I see a lot of faux pas here, don't you?

Hollan's dress is amazing, wow! I just love how ethereal that fabric looks, so gauzy and sheer and the slight off-white nude color really helps to make it art deco-ish, just like you said! Beautiful selection of pictures. I will forever love your description of these dresses and fashions.
I also really love Ariana's dress--it looks like a toughened up floral dress with how edgy the silhouette is.

I agree there really wasn't that many good looks and so many bad ones! My best is probably Taylor Swift and my worst is is Miley but I do think there were a lot of bad looks aside from Miley too! What about you? Whose your best/worst??

I'm sad I wasn't able to watch this last night, but am so glad you made this post!!! My favorite group is the sleek sophistication girls. I love the clean lines and how chic the styles are. I didn't even recognize Taylor Swift! I also like Ariana Grandes outfit. It's so girly and fun. My least favorite has to be Miley Cyrus' outfit. Her hair is disastrous and it seems like she's trying to hard.

I watched Fashion Police on E! and everybody praised Gaga's gown and Miley's outfit.:) What's that saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder - you can say that again.:D I'm definitely crushing on Taylor and Selena's dresses (and bodies) BIG TIME.
