Striped Prada Dress
If there's any dress to salute the beginning of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, this has got to be it. The striped Prada dress from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection has been hot property on and off the runway. The combination of cerise, citrus orange and black with stripes of varying widths is what sets this eye-catching dress apart. It's very bold and playful, and can be difficult to pull off, having both horizontal stripes and bright colours. However, the dress has already been worn by a rock chick, rising teenage star, a sought-after blonde beauty and an award winning TV actress/producer. Three of them in the same month!
The multicolored dress with a flounced hem was originally shown at Milan Fashion Week in September 2010. It was first worn by 14-year old Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld to the 2011 SAG Awards in January. She looked hip and age-appropriate in the longer version of this dress. Gwen Stefani then donned the dress for a fashion spread in the April issue of Elle UK, accessorizing it with a chunky gold necklace. Amanda Seyfried wore it on the cover of US Elle, also for their April 2011 issue. Tina Fey appears in the April issue of InStyle magazine, wearing the same form-fitting dress. It's surprising that stylists have selected this dress for a 14-year-old, as well as a 40-year-old. I don't think that it has an appeal that works for both a youthful and mature market.
