Friday Frills

Life isn't about keeping score.
It's not about how many friends you have or how accepted you are.
Not about if you have plans this weekend or if you're alone.
It isn't about who you're dating, who you used to date, how many people you've dated,
or if you haven't been with anyone at all.
It isn't about who your family is or how much money they have.
Or what kind of car you drive, where you were sent to school or what clubs you got into.
It's not about how beautiful or unattractive you think you are.
Or what clothes you wear, what shoes you have on, or what kind of music you listen to.
Not about if your hair is blonde, red, black or brown. Or if your skin is too light or too dark.
It's not about how smart you are, how smart everyone else thinks you are, or how smart standardized tests say you are.
It's not about representing your entire being on a piece of paper, hoping for others to accept the 'written version' of you.

But, life is about who you love and who you hurt.
It's about who you make happy or unhappy purposefully.
It's about keeping or betraying trust.
It's about friendship, used as a sanctity or a weapon.
It's about what you say and mean, maybe hurtful, maybe heartening.
It's about what judgments you pass and why. And who your judgments are spread to.
It's about who you've ignored with full control and intention.
It's about overcoming jealousy, fear, ignorance and vengeance.
It's about carrying inner hate and love, letting it grow, spreading it or stopping it.
But most of all, it's about how you use your life to either touch or poison other people's hearts.
Only you choose the way those hearts are affected, and those choices are what life's all about.

Hi Sam , what a great motivational post, so true and inspirational. Sometimes we just have to remind yourselves that the trimmings merely provide us with colour, and that life is really about people, not things.
Great post!
Thanks you your recent visit, and kind compliments!

Hey dear!
Thanks a lot for your comment :) I like those lyrics! Very true! We should not connect out happiness to what we've got in 'things' but in love and family and friends.

Sam - great reminder and so true. It is easy to get caught up with these things and start feeling back but when you think about what is really important you realize that none of the superficial really is worth anything.

Morning Sam! Hope your day is kicked off fine and the net troubles are better, your frills should have been about "no net-huge drama" instead!:P Just jocking!:) Today quotes are all very true. Life isnt about counting how many precious things we got, how many useful people we know, how much smarter and richer we are than others, but rather is just about the way we want live it. The kind of person we choose to be affects everything, even the same life. The way we decided to be reveals what life is all about, could be nice or could be bad, it is just our choice:) Happy Friday my dear, big hugs! xo

This is a wonderful reflection, and so true. I'm heading back to visit my parents this weekend, and visiting them always entails a fight against all my insecurities that I'm not smart/pretty/good enough, so it's nice to see something like this that helps refocus you. This might just be staying open on my computer until I come back home to my school.

Thank you for your comments on my recent posts! It is a crazy amount of stuff to do, and I've been considering dropping my math class so that I have four less credit hours, but that would force me to rearrange the class schedule I wrote out for the next few years. Not that it isn't doable, and it might make getting everything together easier, but it's still not something I know if I want to do or not.

Have a lovely weekend!
