Dress Déja Vu

Take a look at the yellow skirt and blouse worn by Blake Lively and Nikki Reed below. Both have a luminous yellow colour. Check. Three quarter sleeves with rolled up cuffs. Check. Button-up front shirt with collar. Check. Pockets on shirt. Check. Knee-length pleated skirt. Check. So it's the same outfit then? Not exactly...

Blake Lively wore this yellow shirt and skirt by Chloe back in June, to the 'Green Lantern' press conference. She added a skinny belt and black Brian Atwood ankle-strap pumps.
Nikki Reed wore a yellow shirt and skirt by Jenni Kayne to the 'Wired' store launch party yesterday (17 November). She also wore Brian Atwood pumps, in a nude shade.

The difference? The Chloe skirt is slightly longer on the model, and has more pleats. Blake's skirt seems to have the length altered.
Who made it first? Chloe. The sunny yellow ensemble is from Chloe's Pre-Fall 2011 Collection, while the Jenni Kayne outfit is from the designer's Resort 2012 range. Another case of different designer, same idea. Have you also got 'Dress Déja Vu?

How do designers get away with such an advanced degree of copying?????

Although the color is the same the design are different, not really copying i think. And i can`t decide witch one i like the best! Both i guess)

It might be a very similar design, but I love them both. That color would brighten my day!

Interesting post, from first glance I thought they were the same dress. I think I love the one Nikki Reed is wearing more though (is that bad seeing as it's just a rip off copy?)

This sunny shade of yellow is amazing! It always makes me smile. The downside is that yellow is a very tricky colour. Nikki looks gorgeous in it but unfortunately it suits not everybody. I try to incorporate yellow in the bottom part of the outfit.

Follow your lovely blog dear! You're very inspiring:) And I'm lately very in yellow colour too;)

Can't say I love either one, to much yellow for me. I do like the Jenni Kayne skirt and would wear it with a white shirt.

Another case of dress déjà vu I can think of right now involves Nikki Reed, too. This time with the light green gown she recently wore, which was a clear reminder of Jennifer Lopez's 2003 Oscars aqua green hit.

Yellow is my favorite color so I love this post :) Believe it or not, I think that Blake Lively fell short in the yellow dress. Disappointing considering I usually love her style!

The dresses do look similiar until you really examine the fine details, body shape, and length of each dress. Either way, my favorite it the Jenni dress- looks more casual and young feel

That's interesting:

On the celebrities I like the Chloe dress more, but on the models I like the Jenni Kayne dress more.
