Heidi Klum Vs Versace - A Supermodel Showdown

If you watched the 'MTV European Music Awards' over the weekend, you would have noticed the hostess with the mostess, Heidi Klum's 8 amazing wardrobe changes during the show; plus another for the after party. Unlike other presenters, Heidi's entire showtime closet comprised of specially handpicked dresses by Versace. The German supermodel has left little to the rest of Versace's celebrity fans to choose from for future events.

Here's a look at Heidi's 9 outfits right off the Versace runway, and from one supermodel to the next, does Heidi outshine the runway girls?

Look 1: Heidi kicked off her EMA night in a gold studded denim blue one-shouldered gown with daring criss-cross lace-up detail on the bodice & thigh high split. Heidi kept the look as on the runway, opting for the same strappy boots. At Versace's SS13 show, Estonian model Katlin Aas wore the dress. Heidi's look is a bit too va va voom for me, I pick Katlin.

Look 2: Walking the red carpet, Heidi picked a sleek little black dress with metallic-stitiched mesh detail, from Versace's Fall 2012 collection. Silver grey platforms complete her look. Jasmine Tookes wore this dress on the catwalk. I think here Heidi wears it better.

Look 3: My absolute favourite dress of the night, a serene white woven bodice with voluminous chiffon layered skirt. Heidi stuck to the circus theme of the show, adding a black top hat and fingerless gloves. Polish beauty Kasia Struss wears the gown on the Atelier Versace Fall 2012 runway. Its a tie, they both look sensational.

Look 4: Heidi rings up the evening in a saffron orange crushed silk dress with black lace accents and knee-high gladiator heels. On the Versace Spring 2013 runway, the dress is worn by Danish model Nadja Bender. Another tie, they both look fetching.

Look 5: Heidi is elevated in a slinky black bohemian dress with beige lace trims and nude gladiator sandals. On the catwalk is Russian dame Anna Selezneva in the same dress. I'm giving this round to Heidi, I prefer her colour of heel.

Look 6: Heidi dons a sky blue tie-dye gown with cut-out bodice, gold waistband and super high slit. Anna Selezneva wears it on the catwalk. Again, I think both supermodels do great justice to this look.

Look 7: Heidi changed up into something more 'comfortable' for the after party, choosing a lavender blue mini dress with embellished skirt from Atelier Versace Fall 2012. I am going with Aymeline Valade from the runway on this occasion.

Look 8: Heidi wears another Versace SS13 outfit - a black leather coat with a beige lace and leather insert skirt. Dutch model Bette Frank wears it on the runway. I am not a fan of either.

Look 9: And finally, Heidi showed off her best assets in a sunset canyon shaded tie-dye gown with risqué low cut-out neckline, leather studded belt and ultra high bordering-on-illicit slit. I much prefer Kel Markey wearing it on the runway.

Which of Heidi's Versace looks is your favourite or least favourite...and do you think she wears it better than Donatella's Glam Squad?

Paris Fall Couture Week 2012 - Part 1

Paris Couture Fashion Week
Fall/Winter 2012-13
Part One

It doesn't get any better than couture week in Paris. All the top designers, famous faces, beautiful models and fashion that sets our imagination alight. This is my coverage of Paris Couture Fashion Week Fall 2012, which takes place all this week.

Versace

For her Fall 2012 Couture Collection, Donatella does what Versace is best known for - a swanky mix of sexiness and femininity, chiseled into shapes that pay virtue to the female form. A candy colour palette of pinks, oceanics and a zesty splash of lime was seen across an unusual blend of fabrics and a visually intriguing tarot-card print. Ultra-short mini's are tightly wound in strips of PVC, silk, mesh and leather. Crystal-beaded corseted dresses with daring slashes spilt into billowy silk chiffon skirts, baring intrepid high slits reminiscent of that Versace dress Angelina Jolie wore to the Oscars. Expect many more similar big red carpet moments from this outstanding collection.

Christian Dior

The pressure was on at the House of Dior as Raf Simons presented his first showing for the renowned French brand. It was a stunning debut for the Belgian designer, as he encapsulated all that is Dior; vintage and modern, elegant and distilled with the right balance of colour and composure. The peplum was given the royal treatment, worn over cigarette pants. Metallic belts further enhanced the hourglass figure, while ladylike dresses were delightful in subdued pinks, ivory and blue, strapless with pocketed A-line skirts.
After the calm, came a vivid colour wash of reds, yellow, cerise pink and navy blue. The traditional ballgown was given a facelift, some with a more contemporary mid length, others in voluminous tulle and floor-length skirts cut down the middle to reveal chicly tailored trousers. Paint-splattered silk and delicate embroidery enriched the beautiful designs. Besides for the inspiring outfits, it was the blazing orange lipstick and neon lined eyes that created a beauty buzz.

Giambattista Valli

Giambattista Valli's Couture collection leaves one in a dreamlike spin where empyrean gardens come to life in a splendor of colour and dazzling florals. A romantic shade of red and earthier green were the basis for the exquisitely printed organza and wispy chiffon. A profusion of intricately appliquéd flowers adorned the expertly crafted gowns, while high-collared necklines, shoulders and sweeping skirts were amplified by an eruption of flowery ruffles. Neatly defined waists and more fitted bodices acted as an equipoise to the palatial looks. This bewitching range blurs the line between reality and a woodland phantasm.

Chanel

Hot off his impressive Resort 2013 showing, Karl Lagerfeld sugarcoats the classics for Chanel this Fall. The tweed dress suit made iconic by Coco Chanel herself is one that never seems fade with time, it only gets better. This season, it is reinterpreted with tulle ruffle cuffs and belted waists, in a pretty patchwork of pink, lilac and grey. Evening wear appeared in glossy silks, with elegant layering and shredded tulle sleeves, 3D camellia-covered gowns and luxurious printed maxi dresses. The sweet pastel and vanilla looks were accessorized by shiny grey lurex tights, metallic silver sleeves, vouguish beréts and cap-toe pumps.

Who Wore Versace Better?

Who Wore It Better?
Versace Spring 2012 Dress

Three stars battle it out this week in a very sexy Versace Spring 2012 dress. The attention commanding asymmetrical dress is decked with gold studs on the bodice and half the skirt. The leather laden dress also features delicate chiffon draping on one side of the skirt and upon the shoulder. It's the fine balance between goth and girly. The Grecian style mini has been created in two colours, jet black and tangy lime green.

1. British X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos was seen in the dress at an FHM party in London earlier this month. The singer carried a large gold Wilber & Gussie clutch bag and wore chunky black Kurt Geiger platforms with it.
2. Jada Pinkett Smith wore the sassy dress in a punchy shade of lime green, to a movie premiere also during May 2012. Jada added a pair of gold Jimmy Choo ankle strap sandals.
3. American actress Elizabeth Banks was the first to wear the dress back in January. She took a different approach by pairing the dress with a pair of sheer black tights and slick black ankle boots.

Both dresses as seen on the Versace SS12 catwalk. Left is Zimbabwean model Nyasha Matonhodze in the black frock and to the right we see Dutch girl Melissa Tammerijn in the green version. I much prefer the heels that it's been styled with on the runway.

My pick from the three, (excluding the exquisite runway models) is Elizabeth Banks. I like the punk rock edge she gave the look with tights and boots. Her smouldering make-up and cropped layered locks were befitting too.

Who do you think wore it better? Tulisa, Jada or Elizabeth?
And which colour do you prefer, black or lime?

Mila Kunis Highlights Harper's Bazaar 2012

Cover Girl Mila Kunis
Harper's Bazaar April 2012

The lovely Mila Kunis graces the cover of Harper's Bazaar magazine for April 2012, wearing the cream of the designer crop from Spring 2012's hottest collections. The Ukranian-American beauty features in a fun-loving photo shoot inside the mag, playfully set in an amusement park. It's been shot by photographer Terry Richardson and has got to be my favourite celebrity fashion editorial for the year so far. Gaze on and let me know if you agree.

Mila looks ravishing in a satin blossom pink Versace gown with provocative cutout on the bodice and thigh-high slit. The dress also has a studded waistband. On the runway, the gown was shown off in a light aqua shade, I much prefer it in the custom pink.

Mila horses around in a sultry black bustier top, bedecked with multi-coloured jewels. Black briefs are paired with it, both by Dolce & Gabbana. Sparkly Tom Ford sandals adorn her feet.

Mila satisfies her sweet tooth in a royal blue Yves Saint Laurent cross halter-neck dress with ruffles on either side of the flaired skirt.

Mila's fashion bubble cannot be burst, as she has fast become one of Hollywood's most noted style icons. She looks delightful in a white Chanel shift dress with ultra-high neckline and sheer hem. Her multi-strap pointy-toe mules are by Louis Vuitton.

Mila wears one of the most striking and memorable pieces from Louis Vuitton's Spring 2012 collection. It is an embellished blue, beige and white broderie anglaise dress, with a multitude of 3D floral motifs, enhanced with studs.

Mila strikes gold in this gorgeous Roberto Cavalli number encompassing a floral pleated skirt and glitzy gold sequined jacket.

Glamour takes a carousel ride - Mila looks beautiful in an a celestial white Christian Dior strapless gown with dainty ruffles washed across the bodice. Marc Jacobs Mary Jane pumps were styled with this look.
And finally, the tiara to top off this photo shoot, Mila shows off a romantic fairy-like look by Alexander McQueen, with a textured lilac organza dress laid over a frothy skirt, and worn with fanciful unruffled organza wedge heels.

Divas and Darlings - SAG Awards 2012

Red Carpet Fashion
Screen Actors Guild Awards 2012

All the glamour and gowns from the 18th Annual SAG Awards 2012 Red Carpet.

Biggest Trend - Braids
Kaley Cuoco enchanted in an aqua-mint confection by Romona Kerveza, with textured skirt and strapless draped bodice. TV Presenter Renee Bargh was beautiful in a purple lace and draped dress by Basil Soda. Ariel Winter looked delightful in a smokey grey Collette Dinnigan dress with beaded bustier and knee-length lace skirt. Dianna Agron was pretty in a deep pink Carolina Herrera gown with ruffle neck detailing. All ladies wore braided hairstyles.

The Scene Stealers
Emma Stone was perfection in Alexander McQueen. She chose a black tea-length dress with ruffled lace bustier neckline, pairing it with a McQueen clutch and floral adorned heels. Rose Byrne pioneered a new red carpet trend, wearing an ivory embellished Elie Saab jumpsuit, with plunge neck and wide-leg pants. Emily Blunt stood out in a revitalizing shade of vivid green, wearing a one-shouldered Oscar de la Renta gown.

 Black & White
Zoe Saldana opted for a white silk organza Givenchy Couture gown with crystal beading and a sheer netted top. Paz Vega looked glamourous in a glistening black and white gown. Although slightly bridal, I loved Judy Greer's angelic white Collette Dinnigan dress. Emilia Clarke donned Chanel, showing off accentuated shoulders and a black feathered skirt. Viola Davis put on a white strapless Marchesa gown with gold embroidered bodice.

Into The Blue
Jessica Chastain in a sapphire blue fitted corset gown by Calvin Klein. Jane Lynch chose a royal blue V-neck David Meister dress. Diane Lane wore a blue satin one-shouldered dress, which is also coincidentally by David Meister.

Glee Girls
Naya Rivera wore sparkly ice grey embellished Naeem Khan gown with deep plunge-neck. Jayma Mays dazzled in a black sequined Reem Acra gown, with the back covered in lace. Lea Michelle showed off some serious leg in a pale grey Versace dress with woven bodice.

Black Out
Amber Heard looked alluring in black silk-faille cut-out Zac Posen gown. The always elegant Angelina Jolie wore a fluid liquid-look Jenny Packham gown. Ashlee Simpson pleasantly surprised style critics in a beaded Jenny Packham dress with sheer capelet. Stacy Keibler was a safe bet in a lace off-the-shoulder Marchesa gown.

TV Presenters
Kelly Osbourne was refined in a cream Badgley Mischka gown with tassel belt and embroidered sleeves. Giuliana Rancic wore a red Basil Soda gown with alternating panels and a metallic belt. Maria Menounos flaunted her stunning figure in a form-fitting Dolce & Gabbana gown. Nancy O'Dell wore a fire-engine red tiered gown.

Too Much Champagne Makes  Everything Look The Same
If I see one more gown in this dull champagne shade, I will pass out from boredom. Julianna Marguiles wears Calvin Klein. Katrina Bowden in strapless lace Amsale. Kristen Wiig in a halter-neck Balenciaga gown. Sarah Hyland in an age-accelerating dress by Temperley London. Berenice Bejo was shimmery in Ralph Lauren. Yawn.

Berrylicious
Julie Bowen was beautiful in a magenta gown with split sleeves by Temperley London. Michelle Williams wore a strawberry red Valentino gown with asymmetrical hem and lace neckline. Natalie Portman looked gorgeous in a strapless plum silk-chiffon Giambattista Valli gown with large floral motif. Sofia Vergara stuns in raspberry gown with folded strapless bodice by Marchesa. Kyra Sedgewick was chic in a cherry red Emilio Pucci dress with cut-out back.

Paris Couture Fashion Week 2012

Paris Haute Couture Week 2012 officially opened it's doors on Monday to world class designers and stunning supermodels, displaying an array of exquisite clothes. This is an updated view of some of the most impressive collections. Click on the pictures for a larger view.

Versace
Donatella sent a small group of Glamazons down the Versace Haute Couture runway for the the first time in 8 years. Glistening dresses seemed to be moulded onto the models, with sculpted corsets, extended hip flounces and rounded strapless necklines. Subtle metallics paled in comparison to the striking shades of tangerine, yellow and lime. High pony tails and smokey eyes completed the glam-warrior looks. I wished for more pizazz, less shine.

Chanel
Azure skies to starry nights - every shade of blue was represented at Chanel's 2012 Couture showing. Models in faux mohawks and fascinators walked down the aisle, set to look like the inside of an airplane. Tweed dress suits in powder blue, drop-waists and pocket seamed shifts with high cuffed necks, a scattering of blue sequins that shimmered like the sun on an ocean wave. Longer length gowns were displayed in midnight blue and the palest shade of blue chiffon. A couture take on air hostess outfits - if only!

Giambattista Valli
The Giambattista Valli Couture show expressed sensual femininity: cream and black sheer lace dresses, petal-smothered skirts, sequins, satin and bows. I can picture someone like Olivia Palermo in the feathered frock, pictured second on the top row. Splashes of raspberry red, plum and fuchsia stole the scene with billowy evening gowns. Models wore elaborate floral headpieces, cohesively fitting in with the summery floral print gowns.

Christian Dior
Christian Dior's Haute Couture collection brings forth vintage-inspired shapes, from the swanky 50's to the more opulent Victorian era. A-line dresses were embroidered with floral designs, while pencil skirts were seen in houndstooth and grid prints. There was an interesting juxtaposition of 'heavy' sheerness. Layers and layers of see-through tulle were skillfully constructed into dramatic gowns with sizable skirts. Ruffles are certainly having a moment.

Armani Privé
Blue was to Chanel as green is to Armani this Couture season. Viridescent shades of green illuminated the striped catwalk, bringing with it chic reptilian-like jackets over mesh shirts and folded silk skirts. The under-the-sea extravaganza continued with a blinding neon gown rolled in sequins, graphic prints unfolded to reveal an inner black bodice, multi-layered mermaid gowns wrapped to resemble seaweed and a conspicuous shade of chartreuse which will ensure that this is an Armani range to be remembered.

Stephane Rolland
Stephane Rolland's Couture collection is one of my favourites from all featured in this post. Because he reimagined the basics, creating avant-garde designs and innovative silhouettes. Exaggerated origami-folds, geometric cut-outs, gold metal panelling, unfurling ruffles and architectural shapes. He chose to express these spectacular designs using a simple colour palette of black, white, red and lime green (which has been quite popular so far). Beautifully draped gowns swept the floor in silk jersey, gazar and organza. A masterful collection with an aura of confidence and allure.

Valentino
There was a feeling of regal antiquity surrounding Valentino's Spring Couture collection. If modern monarchy existed today as it did in the 18th century, I can imagine that this is what real-life princesses would wear. Prim white-to-ivory knee-length dresses, woven from the finest cotton and latticed lace. Feathery light floral frocks, demure as can be with high-frilled collars and sheer organza sleeves. A range that charms with it's maidenly grace.

Zuhair Murad
Zuhair Murad's Couture collection is 'glitzy as charged' for Spring 2012. Extravagantly beaded gowns were dipped in champagne golds and varnished metallics. Black floral embroidery was starkly contrasted with nude-tone slips, while hourglass-enhancing silhouettes were shaped to perfection. Crystal-embellished gowns featured plunging necklines and tails of tulle. It's luxury meets sensuality. I can see many a country-singing-star lapping this one up.

Divas and Darlings - Golden Globes 2012

Red Carpet Fashion
Golden Globe Awards 2012

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards took place last night at the Beverly Hills Hilton. As a pre-cursor to the Oscars, Hollywood's second biggest awards show laid out the red carpet to welcome some incredible styles. Click on each of the pictures for a larger view.

The Romantics

Charlize Theron was ethereal in a pale blush pink Christian Dior gown, which has a large bejeweled waist bow and split leading into a long train. A sparkly headband completed her vintage look. Jessica Alba is lovely in lavender, wearing a strapless beaded Gucci gown with matching clutch. Jessica Biel incited antique charm in this exquisite ivory lace gown by Elie Saab. With the addition of Salma Hayek's and Georgina Chapman's dresses, these are my favourite looks from the event.

Radiant Shades
'Mission Impossible 4' actress Paula Patton was wrapped in a canary yellow Monique Lhuillier gown with flared skirt. Jenna Dewan is gorgeous in a silky teal Maria Lucia Hohan gown with nude underlay skirt. Purple statement earrings are the prefect accessory to her outfit. Ariel Winter looked adorable in a violet Dolce & Gabbana dress with ruffled skirt and black tulle hem. Natalie Portman underwhelmed in a cerise pink Lanvin gown with red band and clutch. Kelly Osbourne's azure blue mermaid gown with exaggerated shoulders is by Zac Posen.

Two-Tone
Georgina Chapman is breathtaking in a white grecian Marchesa gown, with delicately embroidered gold neckline and cuffs. Claire Danes went for a simple silhouette, wearing a black and white J Mendel gown. Emma Stone was her glorious self in a plum sheer pleated gown with ruby panels. She accessorized with a black eagle belt and Lanvin sandals. Kate Winslet chose a classic Jenny Packham gown with black satin keyhole cutout top and white skirt. Angelina Jolie was polished in an off-white Atelier Versace gown with draped split skirt. Colour comes in the form of a folded red neckline, crimson lips & clutch.

Raspberry Rouge
Reese Witherspoon wore a cherry red Zac Posen gown with strapless sweetheart neck. Her best accessory was a dashing smile. Viola Davis chose a one-shouldered burgundy Emilio Pucci gown with thigh-high slit. Dianna Agron was unusual in scarlet laser-cut Giles dress, with tiered skirt. Kudos to her for taking a risk. Penelope Anne Miller looked elegant in a wine coloured Pamela Roland gown. Stacy Keibler sticks to her simple yet sophisticated style in a red hot Valentino gown.

Bridal Inspired
Kate Beckinsale wears a chalk blush Roberto Cavalli gown with mermaid skirt. Elle McPherson is yet another star to wear Zac Posen. Her ivory gown features a corset satin bodice that unfolds into a layered tulle skirt. Amanda Peet wore an irresistible one-shouldered Marc Jacobs dress with wispy tiered frills. Jessica Chastain opted for a white high-collared and beaded Givenchy gown with accented waist. Shailene Woodley wore a pale grey Marchesa gown with zig-zag strapless neckline and pleated skirt. Giuliana Rancic picked a surprisingly tasteful cream textured gown with high-neck.

Blue Belles
Golden Globe award winner Michelle Williams in a navy blue Jason Wu velvet dress. An anti-climax since her last red carpet look. Frieda Pinto wore a teal blue Prada gown with a black leather belt and capacious skirt. Sofia Vergara does a figure-fitting gown like no other. Her indigo blue peacock gown with fishtail skirt is by Vera Wang. Madeleine Stowe made a rare red carpet appearance also wearing Vera Wang. Her bright blue gown has a strapless corset and trailing skirt. Berenice Bejo strikes a pose in a navy blue silk organza Gucci gown, with Daniel Swarovski clutch.

 Back to Black
Mila Kunis looked elegant in a one-strap Christian Dior dress with sheer ruched bodice. Rooney Mara was predictably in black, wearing a Nina Ricci gown with deep plunge and strapped neckline. Salma Hayek looked ravishing in a custom made Gucci gown with angular silver and gold beading and shimmery black skirt. Debra Messing wore another favored designer of the night, Monique Lhuillier. Her asymmetrical gown has a tucked-in drape skirt. Julianne Moore was every bit graceful in a delicately ruffled Chanel gown.

 Green Screen
Award winner Laura Dern glistened in a long-sleeved, emerald green Andrew Gn gown. Hannah Simone was alluring in a jewel green off-the shoulder gown. The colour is amazing with her hair and skin tone. Evan Rachel Wood tried out a bottle green Gucci gown, exorbitantly embellished with shiny paliettes and ostrich feathers. Zoey Deschanel maintained her unique style, wearing a lime and black Prada gown and 60's hairdo .

Shades of Champagne
Nicole Kidman showed off her slender figure in a body-hugging Versace gown, decorated with gold studs. Diane Lane was graceful in a gold flecked Reem Acra dress. Julie Bowen displayed vintage glamour in a fairy-esque Reem Acra dress with embellished sleeves and retro waves. Katherine McPhee opted for a shorter length Donna Karan dress with uneven hem. Sarah Hyland was dressed in a champagne lace Dolce & Gabbana gown with black lace beaded belt. Heidi Klum was toned down in a simple Calvin Klein column gown, placing all emphasis on a million dollar turquoise Lorraine Schwartz statement necklace.

Debatable
You will either love or loathe these. Sarah Michelle Gellar wears a blue and white smoke print dress with lumbering folds, by Monique Lhuillier. Lea Michelle in a sequined silver grey Marchesa gown with a sheer bodice, craftily covered in a feathered design. Piper Perabo looked washed out in a very sheer nude Oliver Theyskens ballgown with voluminous skirt.

Who are your best dressed celebs of the event?
