Fall 2012 Favourites
Part 2
This is the second installment of designer collections from New York Fashion Week, where we are presented with brights, lights and prints.
Diane von Furstenberg
Diane von Furstenberg enthralled with creative prints and vibrant colours for Winter 2012. There were alluringly wrapped day dresses, chain and puzzle print designs, elegant coats and pencil skirts, with long leather gloves and clutch bags to polish it off. Diane formed a harmonious alliance by brazenly marrying bright hues together. Plum and lime, chartruese and fuchsia, red and azure, all bound by wide leather belts.
Giulietta
Newcomer Giulietta sang a song from the 'Sound of Music' it seemed, in charming prim and proper frocks, with a hint of school-girl innocence. The lightness of fabric and softer shades in this collection was welcomed after the other 'heavier' ones shown at NYFW. Peter pan collars, the pussycat bow and square-buckled belts were a continual motif throughout the range.
Nanette Lepore
Nanette Lepore dipped her collection in a paint tin of festive colours for Fall 2012. Bright burnt orange, mulberry, fern green, cerulean blue and chartreuse. The designer cited "dandyism, a deck of tarot cards and Oscar Wilde" as influences. It is a gypsy tonic of trippy prints, skinny velvet pants, artsy blouses and floaty embroidered dresses. Glossy metallic loafers and satchel bags accessorized this beaded bohemian range.
Nicole Miller
Nicole Miller introduces us to the haute hippie rock chick for Fall 2012, and I couldn't be more pleased. A more refined take on 70's fashion with floaty silk blouses worn under oversized vests, unmissable floral prints in vivid shades, cigarette pants and bell bottoms, all spawned from luscious velvets, furs and suede. Satchel bags, wide-brim floppy hats and circle-chain belts perfectly punctuated the retro look.
Pastel pink and powder blue had their moment in the spotlight at Oscar de la Renta's Fall showing. I had long forgotten the slew of black and white outfits after the first celestial blue dress hit the runway. Frothy little frocks with puffy skirts and 60's styling conveyed a certain girlish glamour. Jewel and fur accents added a more grown-up feel to the doll-house dresses.
SunoSophie Theallet
There was a boho-vintage vibe at Sophie Theallet's Fall offering, with a prominence of silky upholstery prints in spicy cinnamon, fuchsia, rust and purple plum. In the mix were polo necks and vividly shaded pants. Long wrap dresses with thigh-high slits alluded to demure sensuality, while A-line skirts and clashing prints provided a more playful look. Suno brings prints to the forefront of Fall 2012, valiantly mismatching them, coloring them in with an Autumn breeze and even naming them! Army-esque influenced blazers were structured, while dresses and skirts fell more freely. A jovial range will leave you wanting to wear stripes with florals and socks with high heels.
Thakoon
Thakoon pressed the 'Refresh' button on Fall 2012, quenching our colour thirst with cerise pink, cherry red and raspberry. Besides for a few bateau necks, paperbag waists and cut-out collars, he kept the silhouettes simple. Using visually interesting materials like PVC, silk, leather and fur, he gave new meaning to the word 'colour-blocked'.
Rachel Zoe
You always know what you're going to get with Rachel Zoe. Long, lean silhouettes, tailored pants suits, billowy 70's style maxi dresses, chic layering and the essential fur coat thrown in. She successfully blends her own personal style in with that of her clothing collection. Luxurious but still accessible.

Nicol Miller is my favorites one from all of them. Fantastic colors and fabrics.
best regards Katerina
Yes, maybe it really was their inspiration! About this post, my favorite collection is definitely Suno! That's surprising, because I usually don't like prints all that much, but somehow it doesn't look too overpowering in here, in fact, i would say some of those pieces look like perfection in any closet!
Rachel Zoe keeps true to itself in another very easy to wear collection and I also like the cerise pink from Thakoon!

DVF is my favorite - although I'm loving all the colors and patterns I'm seeing!

Hey Sam, great post, as great as the part 1. I don't go crazy for any of the collections mentioned but i like few pieces of each one as the black double-breasted military inspired rachel roe coat.
I love these features, I would like to draw my favorite picks!! Is'nt it life can be so easy when I get updated from NY Fashion Week?:) Thanks
Amazing collection by Giulietta. I love every look!!!
Feminine dresses, midi skirts, high-waisted pants, architectual blouses and soft colour - everithing I live is in this adorable collection.
Suno collection is also very good. Amazing prints combinations.
Not really like Thakoon collection though love him as a desigher.
And only two word about Rachel Zoe collection: predictable and boring...
I love Thakoon, but my favourite collection of the whole week would have to be Derek Lam! So unreal. And I was actually at my cabin in Powell River in those pics, right on the Sunshine Coast! Going back again later this week haha...what's a five-six hour trip compared to getting to do absolutely nothing but canoe and drink wine? I love it!

So much gorgeous-ness!!! The problem with having runways shows months in advance is that I can never find the newest trends soon enough :)

I've gone over both your posts FW Part 1&2 at least 5 times each and I still don't think I've been able to appreciate all that's there to admire. Right of the bat though I am completely magnetized by 70's vibe @ Nicole Miller and Rachel Zoe. I want a chocolate brown floppy hat so bad....
BTW sorry about the technical difficulties, I believe it should be fine now. Thanks for letting me know.
Love this compilation! Thanks for taking the time to do that :) So much inspiration in one post!
my favorite are Nicole Miller's and Rachel Zoe's collections =)

Great collections! I'm loving Rachel Zoe and Suno! Did you like the Victoria Beckham collection? Great pieces I thought :)

My favorite from this lot is probably Rachel Zoe and Thakoon! Regarding the Arbonne review I did, I didn't want to write it there but it did smell a bit chemical-ie. The reason I didn't add that was I just became paranoid about if I was really smelling it or if it was in my head. What I did know was I just didn't like how it smelt :(
LOVING the boho hippi of Nicole Miller!! she is amazing!!
love K
I LOVE Oscar de la Renta! wonderful collection!
